Dh, dds (3y and 9months), and I will be at the world the first week in Sept.
I have every day planned out to perfectly based on sunny days, and no meltdowns ;) But I got to thinking. I've heard that it will rain most days in Sept. What are some suggestions of things to do when it rains and we don't want to be in the parks? Particularly with a 3 year old and 9month old.
We will have a car too, so we're open to going outside the world if necessary.

Thanks for any ideas.

If it's just an afternoon thunderstorm or something like that, I'd just go on more rides. I watch the weather channel in the room the night before. If the next day is going to have a lot of rain, I plan on a MK day because so many MK rides are inside. I would avoid the Animal Kingdom on a rainy day because everything's outside.

we dont change a thing because of rain. if fact we like it cause folks like you head for the exits and the lines are much shorter ;) . as other poster said most rides are inside anyway and a 2 dollar poncho will keep the worst of it off of you. you can get kids size ponchos and throw one over the stroller and go. seriously, what if it calls for rain all week, which i have seen many times, are you not going to go to the parks at all? i always prepare for the worst and relish the best.

Only the Wicked Witch of the West won't survive the rain! :maleficen :umbrella: :maleficen

Pop on a poncho and keep on going. To be honest, it's a lot more fun in the rain. Even AK, it's empty and the animals are at their finest without the crowds. :umbrella: :umbrella: :umbrella:

Then again I do Commando trips, and losing one of four days is just not practical. :moped:

We went to WDW last week, and we expected a rainy week, with the normal afternoon storms. But instead, it was completely dry. It only drizzled for about 5 minutes one day, and then the sun came back out. Florida was in a dry spell, so you might get one of them.

If not, go to a nearby dollar store and grab a couple ponchos. Yes, they are hot, but it sounds like you'll have your hands full with a stroller, so you probably don't want to carry an umbrella, especially with younger kids too. They come in adult and kid sizes, so its good for everyone. Then hit the parks, the crowds are going to be low (and the beginning of Sept is empty anyway, so you'll be probably one of the only few people there :thumbsup2) Definitely stay away from AK on rainy days, but the rest have plenty of indoor rides and shows to keep you and your DD's and your DH entertained for a while until the rain stops.

Have a magical trip!!

We never let the rain/thunderstorms affect us. Just put on those ponchos and keep on going! The rain/thunderstorms will help cool things off and help clear out crowds which makes it even nicer to be in the parks.

We also just keep going in the rain. Lightening, we find to step into.

We never has used a back up plan. But, this next trip we are adding a day onto the time we will be there, in the case we get stormed out of a waterpark. We have Fl. PAP's so if we can't stay in a waterpark, we'll get a head start in one of the other parks that will be planned on another day.

I agree about AK. We've been twice in the rain, and more animals are out. The animals also seem to be friskier (or is it more frisky?) than normal. We mentioned this to a CM one time, and she agreed.

Okay, in reality, when we go to WDW next year, we are going to don our ponchos and be troopers. But our youngest will be 6. Last year, when we went a month after she turned 4, we tried to survive the weather with the ponchos. Between trying to keep ourselves, two kids, one stroller and one backpack dry, we gave up. Not only did everyone get wet because of course the 4 year old did not want to keep the poncho on or stay in the stroller, but once we all got wet, we got extremely hot. Needless to say, we gave up on outlasting the rain after one day. BUT...when we went, it only rained in late afternoon/evening. If that is the case when you (OP) go, get to the park early, then if it starts raining, head back to your room for a movie and some down time. If the rain persists, head for dinner. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that. We left the parks and ended up taking naps. It allowed us to return to the parks later if the rain stopped or at least head to the parks early the next day.

Put your ponchoes on and stay in the parks.
