DH and I are leaving tomorrow for a no park trip...just the two of us. We'll spend the first 3 night at the Poly in a standard view studio, and the remaining 2 nights at BWV.

Our plan was to spend the days at the pool and head out for some fun in the evening. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate with that plan once we get to the Boardwalk, as the weather is calling for 90% chance of thunderstorms over the weekend. If we were heading to the parks, I would just throw on a poncho and deal with it.

Since this is a no park trip, I'm kind of stuck trying to come up with a back up plan for the afternoons if it ends up raining all day. Other than spending the day watching sports in ESPN, any ideas?

Catch up on movies borrowed from the Community Center?

Bowling at DTD, Going to the movies, or maybe even going to DQ. You could also do drinking around the monorail. Go and explore the hotels on the monorail and have a drink at each one or just hotel hop and see the other hotels.

We went to see a movie in DTD last trip and it was so much fun. My DH has always suggested it and I always complain I don't spend all this money to come to Disney and go to the movies. Last trip we had a rainy day and went to see a movie and it was such a nice relaxing day!

Seems we are pretty movie starved these days! (Each of the responses above cited movies as a suggested activity.)

Things we also enjoy for non-park days:
  • Shop at Basin at the Grand Floridian
  • Hang out at Animal Kingdom Lodge -- observing animals, enjoying the artwork/artifacts, etc.
  • Visit the sauna at OKW's feature pool
  • Spend 45 minutes with a sketch pad or water color kit (brought from home)
  • People watch
  • Pin Trading

When I went 20 years ago we spent an entire day just exploring the different resorts!

The Monorail Crawl is a favorite of ours. We also enjoy resort hopping, bowling, the early HDDR show, movie, and being overall LAZY. Enjoy, we love our non-park trips!

Never trust the weather forecasts - hopefully no washouts and maybe a shower or two.

I hope you had good weather and a great trip! Visiting other resorts would be a good option and adding in drinks from each one would make it even better.

The weather turned out better than I expected, though we still got a little rain. We did head over to AKV on one of those on/off rainy days, which was the perfect place to spend a few hours. We could step outside and watch the animals when it was clear, and could easily pop back inside the building anytime it began to rain. We were able to get into Sanaa for lunch without an ADR, and had a perfect window seat. Though we have been to AKV before, we have never eaten at Sanaa. It was as good as everyone has said! It is such a beautiful resort and remains one of my favorites!
