I'm trying to find a fun restaurant for the first night we arrive in Disney. It's my whole family's (expect me) first time out of New England. :cool1:

Which would you choice?

Rainforest or Whispering Canyon

The whole family loves both-- but we still talk about our meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe two years later.

I would head out to the Whipering Canyon Cafe with a sense of humor and a desire to have a good time. It won't be a meal you soon forget.

I'd pick the Whispering Canyon then you can wander around the Wilderness Lodge and the lake. Have a great time.

I would go with The T-rex Cafe in DTD, it's set up the same as the rainforest except with dino's. They also have a build a dino shop, it's like a build a bear. Since you have sons they would probably really enjoy it.

Never been to WC but have been to Rainforest a few times. It's a fun atmosphere but the food is not good at all.

I didn't like rainforest at all but did enjoy WL, I try to make that a must do on every trip :)

I didn't car for RFC the food wasn't that good but I did like WCC enough that I try and make that a must do each time I go to Disney :cool1::thumbsup2

I like the rainforest better but if the WC is your only chance to visit WL, I would go there just to check out the resort. It's a easy, fun and pretty boat ride from the MK.

Not a big fan of Rainforest, but I would choose anything (except H&V) over WCC.

I would stick w/ either T-Rex or Rain Forest as they are in DTD. It'd be great to go in all the fun shops while there. We always do Downtown Disney the first night and it really gets us all in that magical Disney trance we all love.

Whispering Canyon blows Rainforest out of the water. The food is good (although not great) but its a very Disney experience. I found the Rainforest to be poor

I would definately go with Whispering Canyon Cafe. Rainforest Cafe is a chain, so you can get it in many places in the country. If you don't have one around you, you can pretty much experience what you would have missed at there by going to Chili's or Applebees (except that you will probably have a better meal there).

This would be my answer. We live in KS and had/have Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex here (Rainforest moved out of one of our local malls, but T-Rex is still around at another). WCC is something that we can't have here. Also, I haven't yet been to WCC (hope to in May,) but I don't care much for the food at RC or T-Rex. T-Rex does have a great atmosphere and my kids love the dig area, but they can do that any Wednesday night for $.99 and all four of them have already built a dino. If your kids want to do those two things, you can do them without eating there and you will still get to enjoy the atmosphere.

I think that food at WCC has got to be better (at least I am hoping!) I agree that the food at Chili's/Applebees is better than RC/T-Rex. We got both the Supersaurus Sampler and the Boneyard Buffet and the only thing I enjoyed was the onion straws. I see that a lot of people here have a good opinion of the ribs, but they are just OK for me and are very comparable to Chili's ribs. From these two experiences I have learned not to order ribs unless I am at real BBQ joint.

My vote is for WCC!

Another vote for WCC. We had a good experience there last trip. Good food, good service and fun. Our server was not over the top which suited us fine, but we were seated right in the middle of things and enjoyed that. It was nice to tour the resort, I wouldn't stay there because coming from the north it looks too much like the north (I want to have the Florida feel when there) but it is a beautiful place.

We ate dinner there then rode the boat to MK for evening emh. You could ride the boat to MK then hop on the monorail for a resort ride... just for an activity without going into the park.

We have a RFC about an hour from our home and eat there once or twice a year so we don't go there when at WDW.

I haven't eaten at that other place, but I had one of the worst meals of my life at RFC. (Not at WDW- it was in Seattle)

I got some kind of appetizer platter, which wasn't edible (they took it off the ticket) and an $8.00 pizza that I bet good money was the Totino's brand. (you know, the ones with cardboard crust and gummy cheese that cost a dollar in the grocery store?) I ate way too many of those in college not to recognize them.

I left hungry. I couldn't finish my food. It was that bad.

I have been to both twice and enjoy both, but I would choose WCC. It provides a dining experience whereas RFC to me is just a meal.
