Please don't go to Tortilla Joe's. I had food poisoning from there and will NEVER go back.

I had chicken flautas, the chips & salsa, and an iced tea.

Okay. Changed my mind! The chicken sandwich doesn't look that great after all! I knew I had heard mixed reviews on TJ's but I couldn't recall what and from whom. I will take your advice. Hopefully others will too! I know when my friend got sick after eating a pot pie at Carnation Cafe, I was tempted not to go back there, but I liked it too much so we still go back but she doesn't order the pot pie anymore! It is no fun being sick at DL, as you know, Wazowski. My poor friend was green for 3/4 of the day, and couldn't enjoy herself.

Sorry, eta..We're meeting friends and it will ONLY work the 29th. And there would be 13 of us (including kids and highchairs). That's why we wanted rainforest So I doubt they can talk walk ins with this many

On my most recent trip, I ate there and found it quite enjoyable. Not excellent, but not bad either.

I work at a restaurant and I totally sympathize with them. I would totally give them another chance (probably not though). I was throwing up for so long that all of the electrolytes in me where gone and I could barely lift myself up. It totally ruined my trip because that was the trip that my fiancee proposed to me. Lastly, when I called to complain about it, they pretty much brushed me off with their answer : "we checked our kitchen and everything seemed to be running smoothly and all surfaces were clean. If there is anything we can do in the future please call." The guy was talking in circles the whole time I was on the phone with him. I was still recovering, so it wasn't worth it to fight it. The main reason for not going back to Tortilla Joe's was their customer service; not at the restaurant but on the phone with me.

I ended up getting a reservation at RFC, it was really early but we might do it anyway.

If not I'm trying to figure out a nondisney place to go eat.

We eat at RF every trip usually twice. Can not beat the food. They only take reservations for 50 percent of available tables. We have been on every major holiday weekend and have always gotten a table. Just go an hour early and put your name down. They hold the table for like 15 minutes past your return time, just incase your late getting back. We try to do something by the monorail station in tommorrowland when we do the RF thing. That way the resi runner can get on the monorail and be back pretty quick to get back in line for autotopia! Its worked quite well for us.

Great! I say give RFC a try once, even if it is early! In fact, early means fewer people and less commotion. I think you and your kids will really like it. Are you still planning on a character meal too? I bet you are having so much fun planning this trip! Your kids will be so thrilled! I am excited for you!

Anyway, as Wazowski said, the thing that is the worst about her TJ's experience is the way they handled the situation afterward. I cannot believe they just brushed you off like that. Even if their surfaces were all sparkling clean, that doesn't mean the chicken was fresh, It could have been bad chicken - maybe it slipped by them and they didn't realize (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt!). In any case, they should have offered to comp your meal at least - you know, either send you the money for it or give you an all new free meal for you and you fiance. That doesn't seem like much compensation for your getting violently ill, but they should have at least TRIED! Not very good customer service at all.

Once, I was eating breakfast at an outdoor restaurant on Catalina Island (my OTHER favorite place ). We had a table with a beautiful view right by the water, and I was watch the flying fish jump up and thoroughly enjoying myself. When my fruit plate arrived, it attracted a whole bunch o' bees. Bees are a very big part of the Island, and they take measures to try to keep the bee population down because they are a PAIN! They are annoying. I couldn't eat my fruit because bees were crawling all over it and flying in my face, and if I dared try to swat them away, I would get stung. The lady at the table next to ours got stung on her neck! So I got frustrated and told the waiter that I couldn't eat my fruit plate because of these darn bees. I think I got two bites of melon and that was it. They would not comp me for the plate! I argued and finally they agreed to deduct HALF of the price so I still had to pay half of a plate that I couldn't eat. They had a bad attitude about it too - very unapologetic. Bad customer service! I mean, don't get me wrong - I know it is not their fault that there are bees on the Island, and we didn't realize they were that bad, but if one customer is getting stung and another one cannot eat what she ordered because of bees, they need to do something overall. I heard that it was driving down business quite a bit and they were getting nervous.

Oh, by the way - the name of this restaurant in Avalon is called The Busy Bee Cafe!!!! Well, they were busy eating my fruit plate, that's for sure!

How about ESPN Zone? I thought the food was great (ribs) and the arcade should keep kids and adults entertained.

Which is pricy - the character meal or Catalina? Yep. Your average character meal is pretty costly, but of course, you get much more food than at the BB. Well, you can always change your mind later and hit Goofy's or something. It is not like they won't let you in the door without a reservation! It is really great food and a fun atmosphere - I would personally choose Goofy's over RFC, but I think you should try RFC once!

(And Catalina is pricy too, but I don't think it is as bad as DL, though it is not an amusement park so it feels more laid back and not so frenzied! It is another one of those places like DL, where I go and have the need to go back right away!)

It IS stressful planning for DL. Even though planning is half the fun, when you hit a snag or someone doesn't agree on something, you can get stuck and the mood dies temporarily. Then you have to get into it again and resume the planning, and it can be a hassle just trying to coordinate things and make lists of where to eat at what times and where everyone wants to go, etc. Some people think that planning way in advance is silly, but if you do NOT, then you spend a lot of time wandering around, wasting time, trying to figure out what to do next.

I remember people on here saying they had food poisoning. This is actually why we haven't gone there yet. With my already bad health problems with my stomach, food poisoning always sends me to the ER. So no thank you! LOL

Sometimes it can get unmanageable with a big mob of folks all wandering together and people end up getting so frustrated that they break from the pack (or get left behind!)! Goofy's would be so worth it!

Well, clearly, you guys will have a great time no matter where you go because you will be in DL during the Christmas season, and that is enough joy and merriment to last for ten years!! I am sure you kids will be SOOOOO excited when they see all the holiday stuff. And that is good that you will be splitting from the bulk of the fampack. Although, you know what is funny? Sometimes when I have been in groups and we have tried to split up, we end up bumping into whoever we split from throughout the day! It seems when you WANT to find someone in DL, you can't, but when you don't, they show up everywhere! There is so much other good food to eat and things to buy and do that going to Goofy's will just be a reason to come back to DL again soon if you don't make it on this trip!!!

By the way, I did talk my friend from Georgia into taking her son and reluctant mom to Goofy's a few weeks ago for breakfast/brunch (when it is cheaper and less crowded) - and they all LOVED it! I'm just throwing that out there... Hee hee.

I wish I had the patience to work at Goofy's, but, sadly, no! Yes, it is the strangest thing - if you say, "I am going to try to find [fill in the blank] at Disneyland and search every corner of the park for him/her," it will never work. You won't find anyone. But when you least expect it - or maybe don't WANT to find them - then every line you get in, everywhere you go, there 'they' are again! My friend (the one who just went to Goofy's for the first time a few weeks ago) had lunch in Los Angeles with another pal of hers. Then, she went to DL two days later, and was strolling through Tomorrowland, and out of all the thousands of people there, who does she run right into but this same pal she had just eaten lunch with two days prior!!! He was there with his family and my friend was there with hers! He didn't know she would be there that day, but he had Annual Passes, so he often went on Mondays. And they just ran into each other! Another time, I went with a group of probably 9 people or so, and one of my friends had just broken up with her boyfriend recently. Determined to get her back, the boyfriend said he was going to show up at DL that day we were there and find her/us. Now, mind you, he had NO clue where we would be at what time - none of us knew where we would be during the day at any time. This was before cell phones. But we stopped to take a rest in Adventureland or something, and sure enough, to my friend's disgust, we see my her estranged boyfriend and his pals walking right towards us! How in the world did they find us on a BUSY Saturday afternoon in DL? You can't hide from anyone there if you WANT to!
