I have never eaten at a rainforest cafe. Am I missing anything? We will be on the dining plan and this resturaunt isn't included in that. is it worth paying extra and going there? Would it be a nice resturaunt to eat at after getiing married (we are getting married on valentines day). We also have a five year old so i wanted her to enjoy where we eat that night also.

Hi Spa -
I was just at RFC with DS(13) and DD(9) a couple of weeks ago. Are you missing something??Excellent question!! My first thought reading your post was that if it's Valentine's Day and you're getting married, there are dozens more wonderful WDW restaurants to go to. RFC is noisy and food is adequate, nothing spectacular.

You go there for the experience. It's darkish and cool - like in a rainforest!!! My kids loved the huge fishtanks at the entrance and we were seated right next to the waterfall. There's a thunderstorm and moving gorillas. It's truly awesome.

My kids are also old enough now to enjoy the setting. When I took DS to one near home when he was 6, he was still absolutelty terrified by the thunderstorms and he could not even SEE his burger it was so dark!! You know your child best.

Congratulations - and enjoy, whatever you decide!!!

We love the Rainforest Cafe. The atmosphere inside is like a jungle. There are animatronic animals that make noise. And every so often it "rains". There is thunder and then in certain areas of the restaurant (near the bar mostly) There is a rain wall. My three year old loves it. But so do my husband and I. We've always loved our food there too. They have a great chicken pot pie and a yummy dessert called the Volcano I think. (Chocolate cake and ice cream, hot fudge).

Where you are on the dining plan I don't know if it $$ wise would work out best for you. But we love it and have always had a great time there.

We've gone to the Cafe on the AK grounds twice. Both times the place was pretty, the food was ok, but the service was painfully slow. We generally travel in the off season, so it's not because the place was packed.

We won't be going back.

I would go there, the food isnt anything great but the theme is so wonderful.
And when it starts to rain and the animals go crazy, I really think that your daughter would like it, maybe more than you. But Its a great experience and Its something you have to try once.

We are not big fans: the wait is usually horrible, the food is average at best, the service has always been very slow and my youngest was afraid of the thunder. If your five year old would like the atmosphere, my advice would be to try to go when it is the least busy (in between normal meal times). IMO the waiting is not worth the cool stuff inside for our little ones.

Hi there,

I live about 20 minutes from a Rainforest Cafe and even though it is somewhat overpriced... I still like to go. The food is somewhat mediocre although I am in love  with the waffle fries. But, you go for the atmosphere.

However, I definitely wouldn't recommend RC as a place to go after you get married. There are so many other great, fine dining places that you can go... I wouldn't choose this somewhat kid-oriented place!

Since you are on the dining plan and you wonder if you are missing out... why not go for a drink/dessert??? They have yummy desserts and yummy drinks (both virgin for the little one and not!). It is a great place to just sit and soak up the atmosphere for a little while. Enjoy! :cheer2:

Hi Spa,
If you are thinking about going to the Rainforest Cafe I would first go to rainforestcafe.com and check out the Safari Club. For a low one time enrollment fee you will get a lifetime membership good for discounts and much more at the RFC and other Landry's restaurants. You can also print out coloring sheets for your little princess to color on the plane on your way down to WDW. I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the food portions are quite large as well. Say Hi to Cha! Cha! for me and enjoy your wedding and extended life together! Tigger =)
