Which Rainforest Cafe do you like better? I've made my ADRs but I am thinking of cancelling CR and then scheduling RC. I was thinking of the one in DTD - I think the kids would really like that one. Any thoughts?

I really want to get to DTD but not sure if we can fit it in - maybe we should eat at the one in AK. I know we will be going to that one. Thanks.

Wow, great question!
Personally my favorite Rainforest Cafe is the one at AK.
It may sound strange, but it seems just a bit bigger and if you know for sure you're going to be at AK, I'd go there.

For some reason I like the one at AK better too. Maybe because its sometimes hard for us to get DTD in since we can't seem to stay out of the parks! We usually go there just after park closing for dinner. We do belong to the Safari Club however so we get seated quicker. Joining that is very easy, you can do it that day and use it at the same time. It cuts the wait down and since they don't take ADR's at this place its nice to have. You will also save 10% off your food bill.

Thanks for the quick replies. But I am confused. Rainforest Cafe in AK does not accept ADRs? I read on another post that they do. I know at DTD they do. I'll just call and find out for sure. Thanks again.

Maybe they do now? There has always been lots of conflicting reports on whether either one of them does. I don't normally pay much attention since we have that Safari Club Card. Its $15 to join but you do get the discounts on food and merchandise. And its good forever, you don't have to rejoin annually or anything. Let us know what they say at Disney Dining about making ADR's!

Pretty sure that AK RFC takes ADRs.

DTD does not. They will take reservations if you call the restaurant direct. I have a Safari card, so other than when I had a big group, I don't call. In January we were seated with a 15 minute window, others around us were told 1 hour 45 minute wait.

AK RFC was built to be a RFC. DTD RFC was another restaurant that closed and RFC renovated it. SO, it may not be your traditional RFC layout.

I dont like the DTD RC because depending which room you are seated in you have to walk through the whole dining room past other diners only to stand in line again while all of the people are eating right next to you... it just seems wrong. I think thats the elephant room.
AK seemed better on the inside and the service was better too.

Just from my experience be aware that it can be a VERY long meal...took us 2 1/2 for a burger lunch and this was not durring a busy season

YMMV

What was long about it? The wait to sit down, the wait to have order taken, the wait to get food? Just curious because I am planning this for one night when we are there next.

I just made an ADR for RC in AK for our June trip. Wasn´t a problem at all.
Hope we won´t have to spend 2 1/2 hours there :(

i hear this a lot and i dont get it. Ive been to RFC in both DD and AK at least 4 times. NEver did ispend 2.5 houras there. An hour or a little more? Yes because we are slow eaters and take an hour and a half at restaurants ehre at home. But never 2.5 hours, and ive done breakfast lunch and dinner there.

The wait to get seated wasn't that bad-15 min or so. The time was spent waiting for a waiter to finally come by, waiting to get a drink, waiting to get our food, waiting to get a refill amd we waited and waited and waited for our check-so long in fact I finally went and chased him down. Then we STILL waited for our check!

Now this may have been a unique experience but I have read other comments that if you go there PLAN on spending quite a while. One resource we use says that it always take a min. of 2 hours for lunch or dinner.

YMMV

Thanks for all the info and tips. I made an ADR for the RC in AK this afternoon. I was surprised to get the time I wanted. The CM was very nice and actually went down my whole list of ADRs and confirmation numbers w/me. Everything was fine. For some reason, I was worried. I'll have the resort print them off for me once we get there. Thanks again.

I just made my ADR for AK RFC with no problem. I was tols that they do not take ADR's for the one in DTD. I guess it is like the OP said you must call them directly.

We've done them both and both were terrible. Bad food, poor service, just not something I care to repeat ever again.

I'll agree about the wait. First we waited to have our name called. That was about an hour. Then we waited to be taken to our table after they finally called our name. Only they didn't take us to a table, but to another waiting area. Then we waited there to be taken to a table. Then we waited to get our order taken. By the time the food finally came, one of the kids was already asleep and the other two were fading fast.

Be prepared for all the noise.

We've eaten breakfast at RFC in AK and it wasn't terrible. I think the atomsphere is what makes it attractive to people. The food was kind of blah. My philosopy when it comes to restaurants is if I think we've waited too long - leave! Why waste your time there? There are plenty of other places to eat. Having said that once you've ordered it is hard to leave. But I think there are indications beforehand - long wait for table, real busy, etc.
