What are you opinions on the rainforest cafe at animal kingdom :thumbsup2 , :confused3 , :rotfl: , :cheer2: :furious: ??? thanks for your imput.

My opinion ... Great atmosphere and gift shop, but waaay overpriced for very mediocre food.

We had lunch there last week..The food was OK..Not great but not terrible either... We had buffalo wing, large portion, good wings...I had a burger. It was just OK. It may because I am comparing to Beaches an Cream which was excellent.. My friend had the pizza ,which again was OK...Nothing to write home about...I tend to like their appetizers but not be thrilled with the entrees..We didn't have dessert, but the desserts looked good.

We loved it!! The food was similiar to Applebees (if you have one near you) Maybe a few bucks more then there. The restaurant itself is really cool but loud! I think kids would love it...we didn't have any with us. Definetly worth trying..we are going back again in June. I have heard better things about the one in AK then in DD. :goodvibes

If you go, try the China Island Chicken Salad...You won't be dissapointed :thumbsup2

I know this may sound silly, but I think the food/atmosphere is better than the one at DD. I like going to it for lunch when I need a break from busy AK- eventhough it is loud, it's comfortable. :wave2:

The food is pretty good. It is on par with Applebee's or Chili's. It is really loud. I wouldn't want to go every trip, but the kids really enjoyed it when we went last month. My 14 yo nephew loved it. We ate there our first night at WDW and he asked if all the restaurants we were going to eat would be as fancy as Rainforest :rotfl: . I told him that fancy was not the word that I would have chosen, but based on what he thought was fancy, no probably not. So, if you any boys in your group, they should love it. He picked Rainforest and Sci-Fi as the best.

Any way, if you don't mind paying outrageous prices for Applebee's quality food in a loud but neat atmosphere, I say go for it.

We like the Rainforest Cafe. We're doing it again next week when we go to AK.

RFC is one of those places where you go because it is so much fun, and so heavilly themed. This will be reflected in the menu prices. The food is good. My DD is 15, and still asks for RFC for lunch/ dinner when we are close by to the one nearest our home. She still orders the kids pasta, plain with butter, too :rotfl: :lmao:

We've had terrible meals at both RFC, AK and DTD. Service was better at AK than DTD, but still not good. Never again.

We go every time we go to WDW for DS as we don't have one in our area anymore. Having said that, it is overpriced and loud but almost every restaurant we go in to at WDW or in Orlando is loud and some are overpriced (especially on property).

If you have kids who are into animals, go at least once. And make sure you leave room for dessert - the volcano rocks!

We always seem to end up at Rainforest Cafe...either Downtown or at AK. I don't think we go for the food...just the entertainment that surrounds you.

Oh wait, if you like ice cream, brownies, hot fudge and caramel sauce(who doesn't? :confused3 ) try the Sparkling Volcano. Oops, little drool on the keyboard. Now I know why we go :thumbsup2

We always go to the Rainforest Cafe. The food is good and the atmosphere is terrific. We usually get hors d'oeuvres for our meal and then we order the Volcano with four spoons for desert.

We ate lunch at the AK one last week because DS, 8, had tried the one in Chicago with me this summer and fell in love. DH and I thought we were just going along for the ride, but not to enjoy the food. Well, I had the Plant Sandwich (a vegetarian grilled sandwich w. cheese) and thought it was excellent -- DH had a shrimp and pasta dish and was also pleasantly surprised. DS had Python Pasta -- just plain penne pasta with butter (same as he had in Chicago) and pronounced it the best on earth (ok, he's a kid -- we know it's the whole scene that he's loving). Anyway, service was great, food was good (yeah, a little overpriced but after a week at WDW, who's counting?) and overall we all came away from the experience happy and full. Can't complain!

We had a good time. We've always had to wait quite a bit to be seated at RC compared to other Disney resorts, even with ADRs. The atmosphere is fun and the food is decent.

I love it. It's my favorite restaurant. Between that one and the one at DTD, I go there at least 3 times every trip.

I usually get the Paradise Pot Roast. Very good.
The safari soup is delicious.
The volcano dessert is the best!

My best friend invited me to Vegas last year with her family. They'd never been to a Rainforest and I had my safari card and a couple gift cards from MyPoints so we went. We thought he step dad was going to attack the waiter when he tried to take away the pot roast plate! We were all done, his plate was almost completely clean so when we told the waiter he could take our plates he assumed he could take his as well. Man did he ever get the evil eye! There was still some bits to be picked up with the bread :rotfl2: He said it was the best he'd had.

I've never been to the one at WDW - just the one in our backyard, at the Mall of America. The atmosphere is fun but their food is subpar.
