Need a little help from you experienced disers....

We are going on a MAW trip in a couple weeks....kids include DS14, DS5, and DD3. They arent skiddish by no means, so I am NOT worried that the noises or animals will scary them.

I actually have ressie for Rainforest but then I learned about T-Rex (they do like dinosaurs)...if you had to choose between the two which one would it be. How is the food and is it worth the money?

TIA

If you've never been to either, they're pretty much the same except the T-Rex has the build-a-Dino part. If you've been to a Rainforest before, the T-Rex is nice for a change of pace. I also thought the food was a bit better at T-Rex (maybe just because it was a newer place), but I actually really like the food in both places- they have a very wide variety which is nice. I think it's pretty much in line with what you'd expect prices to be like at Disney and they have pretty large portions.

We really enjoy Rainforest more than T-Rex due to the food. We felt T-Rex had a great atmosphere, but the food choices were not as varied. If I remember correctly, none of us really enjoyed the meal....probably a better place for dessert! And speaking of dessert, the VOLCANO at Rainforest is the best if you are celebrating anything.
The prices are outrageous at both, so that really doesn't help!
Good luck and have fun! :thumbsup2

I agree with Figment. Maybe I ordered the wrong things at T-Rex but I was underwhelmed with the food. I always get the paradise pot roast at Rainforest and it's better than anything I had at T-Rex.

However, it's definitely worth it to take a stroll through T-Rex! The inside is really cool.

If I had to choose it would be Rain Forest. Kids will love it, food was better than T-Rex. So, if you have to take one for the kids then do Rain Forest.

We are the opposite  . We had an amazingly good meal at T-Rex last time and prefer the menu there.

We love the T-Rex. I much prefer it to Rainforest. T-Rex has this amazing sandwich that is made on pizza dough with chicken and this lemon sauce. Can't remember what is it called but it is yummy!

a little surprised by this thread. Usually I see more people touting T-Rex over RFC.

We've done RFC three times and T-Rex once (and it looks like we'll be doing RFC in Nashville this month). My wife and I agreed that we liked the food selection at RFC better.

Neither place is gourmet nor cheap, but we have gone to one each of our last four trips. The kids like them.

We prefer T-Rex over Rainforest Cafe. Our food was much better and my boys liked the dinosaurs better.

It's unique. I like the atmosphere much better and I like the food better. As far as $$ and options, it's pretty much the same. Lots of options for reasonable prices. But I've been to Rainforest a ton of times and they have them all over the country so when we went to Disney last year we wanted to do something we hadn't done before and I really liked it.

SO T-REX gets my vote :thumbsup2

Just back, ate at both, food was comparable (both very good); restaurants are owned by same group so they are nearly identical in atmosphere, noise (both are loud), etc. If you have done RC, I recommend TRex, but because it is newer you will wait longer. We really like Rainforest after a day at AK.

We like t-Rex at wdw because we have a rainforest near by where we live. They are both fun places to eat!

We are the opposite  . We had an amazingly good meal at T-Rex last time and prefer the menu there.

I agree. T-Rex was beeter, and DS has the final vote for us and he loves T-Rex.

We do the smaller Rainforest at AK for breakfast AK park day and that is always good.

and there are proponents and opponents of both, call the restaurants directly You will have an easier time getting preferred seating. We've walked into RFC in DTD when there was a 90 minute wait after making are "preferred seating" reservation a week ahead of time.

I'd choose RFC. We've eaten at RFC on every trip and tried T-Rex this past trip, and everyone thought the food was better at RFC. The boys (7 & 9) liked the atmosphere of T-Rex better, but the rest of us liked RFC better all the way around. I think we're going to skip T-Rex for our next trip and just do RFC.

ETA: I've always called the restaurant directly to make the ressie.

RFC: (407)827-8500
T-Rex: (407)828-8739

How sad is it, that I have them in my phone book on my phone:rotfl:

The food and service has always been good at RainForest. I am not sure but I signed up for membership years ago and get a birthday coupon, 10% discount, and do not have to wait on line to be seated. Check to see if that is still available.
