ok folks hoping to get a few answers and opinions. I know there are 2 Rainforests, one is DTD and one in AK...which one is easier to get in and what time of the day would be best, lunch or dinner? I have a gift card,do they accept these? I also have a kids meal card for DS,do they accept those? Now the gift card shows it can also be used at T-Rex which I see also is at DTD..in your opinion(for those who've tried both) which is better? Not just for us,but maybe from a 13 and 9 yr olds point of view as well??
Thanks for any help, it is appreciated! Can't wait til our next trip getting so excited and hoping to try new things this time!:thumbsup2

I have never been to either so I am useless here...but I am planning on taking my family to both T-Rex and Rainforest. We are going to the DTD Rainforest.

I have saved up to pay for both out of pocket because I think the kids will like them.

From another thread, AK seems to be easier to get into. They also serve breakfast. All the food is pretty much the same. The 99 cent kids certificates and RFC gift cards can be used at all 3 locations.

IMHO T-Rex is far better than rainforest cafe in regards to food and theming. Rainforest is ok and its fun to experience at least once but if I had to pick one or the other it would be T-Rex for us!:thumbsup2

T-REX was AWESOME!! By far way better than Rainforest, IMHO! I loved it in there!!! Food was great too! And I met the chef (b/c of a food allergy!) and he was so accommodating :)

My family and I like T-Rex much better than the Rainforest. Yes, call the restaurant directly to make ADR's. I tried and tried the Disney Dining website to book and couldn't get anything. Following the advice here on the DIS, I called the restaurant directly and had my choice of times.
Can't wait to go!!! :thumbsup2

RFC in AK closes earlier I think. Sometime near the park closing. T-Rex kinda makes RFC look outdated. But we like both. Food is pretty much the same at each IMO. We are all adults now and make it a point to visit both at least once every trip! For kids I think T-rex wins! I called T-rex direct the nite we wanted to eat there and got a ressie for the exact time we wanted. Disney dining had nothing available so I agree with PP's call direct.

I've been to both T-Rex and Rainforest. They are both so similar I would not recommend both. We went to T-Rex first and Rainforest just seemed like I was going back to the exact same restaurant. The food options are similar as is the feel. If you like Dinosaurs choose T-Rex if not go Rainforest.

We went to the RFC at AK for breakfast - it was very good! We had gift cards and had no problem using them. I got the ADRs through Disney, though I know a lot of people have been having issues with Disney not showing anything available so better to call them directly.

sorry to bother ya'll again, but it has come to my attention that Landry's also owns the Yak & Yeti in AK...can I use my gift card there as well? Any thoughts on the food there or with the kids should I still stick to T-Rex?? Thanks everyone, not much time to go and want to make the ressies asap!:)

You can get a rainforest cafe pretty much anywhere. TRex is quite unique, AND AWESOME! i'd go with TRex! :teeth:

thanks all,was kinda leaning that way,I think DS(9) would love it,just kept second guessing myself! Just need to make the ressie and get it over with I guess..;)

Yak and Yeti is a counter service with outdoor tables. We really liked Y&Y sweet-and-sour food. A fun change of pace from burgers and fries. And it's close to Expedition Everest. Some Landry restaurants are exempt from the offers, so I have no idea if they would honor your coupon.

T-Rex in Downtown Disney was fun -- I agree with the others who recommend it over RFC.

This is only partially correct. There is a Yak & Yeti CS, but there is also a large Yak & Yeti TS restaurant. I have no personal experience, but I have read here on the DIS that folks could not use the gift cards at Yak & Yeti.
Good Luck

How soon they forget. We ate outside because it was faster and the weather was nice.
