Is anyone familiar with the Safari Club? I know you have to join at a restaurant; do you get a card and benefits immediately? How long does it take to get your $10 coupon in the mail? I will join in early Sept. hoping to be able to use the benefits while on a trip at the end of Sept.

I would like to know the answer to this also

I joined in May. It was $15 and I was able to choose from 10% off or a free appetizer right away. I also got a temporary card - really just a piece of paper - that night. So the benefits begin right away.

It took about 6-8 weeks for my permanent card to come. It also came with a $10 gift certificate.

Yes, you get benefits right away using the card. The $10.00 certificate takes about 10-12 weeks. Hope this helps!

Wow! That's complicated! :goodvibes I have an AP and did not realize I could get 10% off with it. I'll try your scenario when we go in September and let you know.

When are you going in Sept??? We will be there 9/20 at 2 pm!!! looks like you will be down around the same time as us.

We have had mixed success using both an AP and the Safari club Card for discounts. Some servers may do it for you, but most of them would not do both. It is worth a try though.

For those wondering about discounts, I was told by our server at the RFC in Mpls, that all discounts have to be approve d by the manager on duty. Not up to the server.

Very good point. My memory may be failing. I may have never had success using both. But I still tried. :)

we joined last year while waiting in a long line, got immediate priority seating. no need for future ADRs at this local, so they say. plus 10% off or a free appetizer i believe. no waiting in line proceed to the purple elephant and they seat you next available, is what the hostess told us. when we joined we were facing an hour wait and they took us right in after we filled out the application:banana:

That is the real benefit of the Safari Club. The discount or free appetizer is nice. But when you are seated within 10 minutes on a night when the wait is close to two hours, the real value of this membership comes into play.

We have had several occasions when we have waited 5 minutes when the wait was an hour and a half. I think the two hour wait night was 6 minutes.

Let me get this straight...if I have no ADR and no card, I can show up and fill out the application, and I'll be seated immediately? We have no Rainforest Cafe near us and when I called to try to enroll they said I had to do it at a restaurant. When we tried to get into the Disneyland location we were told there were no more reservations for the whole time we were there!

I have no idea if this is common, it was just our experience in february, we did the application and were given a temporary card and 5-minutes later we were seated and looking at menus:woohoo: TYVM. We were waiting to put our name in and some people ahead of us said the wait was an hour. The hostess asked us if we were interested in the safari club. we said no at first, then she explained the benifits and we did it.pixiedust: :worship: thank you oh most generous hostess god:thumbsup2

There is a $15 fee for the card but it's renewable thereafter. I really just want it for the VIP seating. That's invaluable.

Front of the line access is the best benefit. On a Saturday night at DTD the wait could be 2+ hours. Remember to go right to the elephant, and not to the desk taking names.....We wasted 15 minutes in the wrong line....but we were then directed to the elephant and seated immediately.
