Rainforest Cafe-DTD or AK? Which do you prefer?

We have done the Rainforest Cafe at DTD before and have always enjoyed it. But timewise for our next trip it would be easier to eat at the AK one for lunch.
Are they basically the same? Is the food better at one over the other? Is the menu the same?

Thanks!

I'm bumping up. We have done both and to me they are the same. We will probably eat at the AK one. It seems less crowed to me. I think we will go right before park closes or for lunch.

they seem the same to me....and so do the others outside of Disney we have eaten out.
I like it ::yes::
We like the AK one, it isn't as busy.

DEFINITELY the one at AK. Much less crowded and a lot less "noisy" (people noise that is :) ). The gift shop area is a lot less crowded too. Otherwise the atmosphere inside is pretty much the same (although I like the themeing around the outside of the one at AK, from both the AK entrance and the parking lot entrance).

They seem the same to us. But we always do the AK one because there are so many great places to choose from in DTD and AK is more limited.

According to the list on www.allearsnet.com, neither RFC is on the Dining Plan for 2009:

Also, I wanted to add that we went to RFC in AK during our trip in 2006 and had reservations for about 10 minutes before the park closed. It was so crowded! I guess everyone was waiting until the park closed (7 p.m. that night) before going to dinner. But other than that one time, it's always been fairly low crowds (especially at lunch). If you do plan on being there after the park closes be sure you have a way of leaving (not to the OP as I realize you're asking about lunch but for anyone else that might be planning to go for dinner :)). Disney Transportation only runs an hour after the park closes. We saw a few people leaving RFC that their dinner had taken longer than expected and the busses had stopped running.

I think the AK one is less busy based on my experiences (4x) than DTD (2x). the service at AK is hit or miss, but I didn't get good service at DTD at all. Also AK has minimal TS food choices, so for a sit down meal while at the park they are a good choice even if they are not on the dining plan.

and definitely prefer AK. Less busy, less noise. Still the same food, just waited less time for it.

Am I mistaken, I thought they turned the RFC at DTD into the T-Rex cafe?

We like to have breakfast at the AK RFC and then enter the park through the turnstile past their shop. Just remember that you can't bring straws from RFC into AK! :)

It's been a few years since I ate at either location, but I always preferred the AK location, because it's less busy and less noisy (except for the thunderstorms), and I've always gotten better service there. Food quality always seemed about the same at both locations.

Don't forget that WDW Dining Cast Members can not make ADR's for the location at Downtown Disney, so if you want a reservation there you need to call the Rainforest directly. However WDW Dining Cast Members can make ADR's for the location at the Animal Kingdom.
