Rainforest Cafe dilemma

Okay , so I am so excited as I have been finishing up last minute travel plans today. I called Rainforest Cafe to make dinner reservations for me, DBF, and Princess Bella (DD2). We decided to go their for dinner bc we think the environment will be intriguing for her. I am not so thrilled about eating there bc I have read reviews that state the food is not so hot. I am not one that must have a 4 course dinner, but just good food!
So, my question is , to those who have eaten there, what dish would you recommend?
I appreciate any advice. Thanks! TIna:flower3: popcorn::

Oh my, the food at the Rainforest is so good!!!

I was there in June and had the Planet Earth Pasta. It was very, very good.

There is so much to choose from, I'm sure you will find something you will love!

I was worried too because I really like good food and the reviews were awful...to my surprise the food was not bad. It's not fancy, it's comparable to Applebee's or Chili's...
I thought it very reasonably priced with a very large selection.

Go and have fun!

We were there last December and the food was good, but the services was horrible!

I have eaten:

calamari
a pizza
bbq turkey wrap (I think)
burrito

All were pretty good.

In particular I remember the last time the server brough out dd's meal like 20 minutes before he brought out ours so she was done when we were just starting and you know what happens when little ones get bored at the dinner table. We pretty much asked for the check and inhaled our food as fast as possible to avoid a melt down of some sort.

Because of this we have decided not to go this time, when in the past it has been a tradition of ours.

I worked at Rainforest when I was in college...which wasn't THAT long ago...well, in the grand scheme of things at least.;)

It's kind of hit or miss there.
The flatbread pizzas are awesome!!! You can't go wrong w/any of them!
The salads are really good too.
My fave salad EVER from any restaurant is the China Island salad.
It's sooooooo good!

Umm...the entrees... the chicken fried chicken, and mojo bones are good from what I remember.
I'd have to take a look at the menu to think of others...

HTH. :thumbsup2

I would have to agree with this. My kids love to go at least once each trip, although my DH and I would rather go elsewhere just because the last few times the service truly was bad. We tend to always order the same food and no complaints there. The wait staff was rude and acted like any request (may we have ketchup please?) was making them go out of their way to serve us. :sad2:

i'm glad someone asked this...i was wondering the same thing. i want to have dinner at the rainforest cafe when we're there in october, but was wondering about the food and service. i was actually there with my sister and her family back in 2003...and i don't remember what i had. i guess the service wasn't that bad since i'm open to going back. i figured we could treat ourselves to a 'nice' dinner one night while we are there.

I quite enjoyed the food. Try the roast beef it's delicious. I didn't care for their alcoholic beverages though.

I had their quesadillas which were pretty good. They were on the appetizer menu so cheaper than a main course and plenty of food for me. :thumbsup2
Think Applebees with thunder. :rotfl:

One word of warning...we visited Rainforest Cafe last summer in WDW with our children (11 and 7). DS (7) was FREAKED out by the animatronics! He would hardly eat and, as fate would have it, we were seated right next to a big gorilla. He had to move to the far end of the table before he would sit down.

Not a typical reaction from him. You might want to prepare your little one before you head in.

we went in December and we didnt really care for the food for the price that we paid. yes the design of it all is very neat, but I really dont see us going back there.

Loved the salads. The price is a bit high, but it is the same at all the downtown disney restaurants.

Big portions. They give you a lot of food. The chicken fried chicken is good but the chicken is very crispy and crunchy - almost too much so. It comes with gravy on the side, so you can control hos much goes on there and mashed potatoes. Also, their drink - called the Rain Forest Ricky - is non-alcoholic and super good. It would be okay for kids because it is all fruit juice and you get to keep the souvenir hurricane glass it is served in! But I am an adult and I loved it!

Applebee's or Chili's? I can definitely deal with that! One thing I cannot stand is bad service. I am the type of person that will go home and contact the head office to complain.I have done it in the past. I think they assume that we will just go home and forget about it. I want to enjoy my vacation with my family bc I have put a lot of planning into it to make sure things are special. So, I have made no room in my plans for rude behavior.:thumbsup2
Hopefully things will be copacetic.
Thanks for all the ideas about entrees. If I was alone I would have done blue bayou or even Jazz Kitchen . I love creole influenced cuisine. :snooty:

We like the food! Only once we had a problem with a few hard buns, that was last year. But they have really good pizzas, I like the turkey wrap they have, and usually the burgers are quite good too.

I wouldn't worry about the food quality.

Uh oh ,thanks for the warning! DD is crazy about animals, but you never do know! we shall see what happens. :confused3

We ate there on our recent trip. As others have said - service was less than desirable.

Lots of confusion at the check-in desk. They gave us an hour wait. When I went back in 15 to tell them we were going elsewhere - they said they had already called our party and it would only be another 5 minutes. We stayed - the food was OK. DH and I shared the combination appetizer.

We love RFC!! The animals and the food! We always get the same thing when we go too. LOL We loved the crab dip but the no longer do crab because apparently the chef didn't like the quality of what they were getting, so last time we got the spinach artichoke dip. Not as good as the crab but still good. So, we share that (we get it free with our RFC card) and then we share the Maya's Combo, DBF eats the coconut shrimp, I get the chicken and we share the ribs. It's plenty for us and it is yummy!!
