Rainforest Cafe coupons or discounts?

I second the Safari Club idea.

You get a $10 coupon (in the mail) after signing up, 10% off entrees, you get priority seating (not immediate, but a lot quicker than if you just waited for your place in the regular queue), and you can receive periodic email offers.

Though there's a small initial cost - I seem to think that it's $10, which you get back in the coupon - but I think that this is a no-brainer even if you're only going to go occasionally.

If you are a member of mypoints they sometimes have rainforest gift cards as a premium. Not sure if any other point programs use them but it might be worth a look.

It's currently 3,500 MyPoints points for a $25 Rainforest gift card, though most other restaurant gift cards in that amount cost fewer points.

While it is not a discount or coupon, if you'd rather have your meal "paid" in advance and not have to shell out while on vacation, you can go online and order a gift card/s to pay for meal (Landrys) on RF website.
I did this so that I would not have to use cash while on vacation since that was one of the only meals we did out of the dining plan.
Fun place, still think it is overpriced and service is usually mediocre for decent food, but DS still loves it. Had the Volcano Ice Cream this year, YUMMY!

I do have a mypoints account but have been very disappointed in them, they raised the amounts to redeem so it takes much longer to get anything decent. Im 1,100 shy of the rainforest cafe card, so I'll hang on to the points and accumulate more for something else as the trip is in 2 weeks!

Surely no debate there, it does take more points to reach award levels than it used to. I know it won't help you this time around, but I think it's a good idea to look at the MyPoints vendors every once in a while to see if there are companies that you regularly deal with online but haven't been using the MyPoints link. For instance, we use Dollar for most of our vacation car rentals and I go through MyPoints to get the points and use discount codes to get generally low prices for a nice win-win. And one of my daughters gave me an Omaha Steaks gift card recently. I waited for a sale, used the MyPoints link and got $75 worth of food plus 375 MyPoints points for just the cost of shipping. This type of thing is especially effective if you buy online for the holidays. Otherwise, if you're just collecting the points from reading the emails it will take a long, long time to get a reward.

Have a great time at Disney!

That was the problem, I would forget to do whatever online ordering I was doing thru mypoints. Then I'd get to their site afterwards and do a mental-headslap -- I could have gotten points for that purchase! So now I have the site as a tab that pops up automatically.

Do any of you know how to get into the safari club without going to a RFC to register? I looked at their site and I can't seem to see any other way to do it, and there are NO RFC's near us. I would love to register for this before our trip next month, but I'm not seeing any way to do that.
Thanks in advance!
Dee

Going to Disney with my 4 year old, after a 15 year LONG wait!!!

I do not believe that there is any way to register without going to a restaurant. They do that for economic reasons - they don't want you to use the $10 coupon that they send to you on your first visit, they want the repeat business!

On the other hand, you can sign up when you get there and use preferred seating immediately. We signed up several years ago when we went to eat the queue was just ridiculous. There was a Safari Club registration table set up near the entrance and the observant person who was tending it saw that we were about go elsewhere and she called us over. It was almost like "Psst, want to get ahead of everybody else?" She even took us over to the front of the line to put our names in and show that we'd signed up for Safari - our wait went from an hour or so to 10 mnutes.

That's pretty cool! Although I'm sure others don't appreciate it, but they probably don't know how you get to the front of the line :o) Thanks for the info, and I'm going to try it out! I also want to try the new T-Rex restaurant, but I'm afraid that one might be way too crazy to try to get into... but we will check it out to see. So many places that my 4 year old will just love to see!

Thanks again!

I don't know which Rainforest Cafe restaurant is in question but you can make priority seating reservations at the Downtown Disney location. Beats standing in line and ending up with a reserved table 2 hours later. We did this a couple years ago, I would think it's still possible. I knew what night we were hitting DTD and planned accordingly to eat there :).

When you sign up for the safari club they send coupons for birthdays and such. I just got a $5.00 coupon for my birthday which was in Aug but the coupon is good till Nov. Plan to use it at DTD location next week!

for our chicago trip this year, I bought two kids eat free coupons off ebay. I paid $5.00 for both coupons. I realize the coupons weren't free, but I still saved about $10.00 off our meal.

Regarding MyPoints. I too have noticed recent increases in the number of points needed for a reward. One of the rewards we use most often also had the $25 option removed and you must wait until you have enough points for a $50 certificate in order to redeem.

Did they keep the points cost relationship the same (is the cost for the $50 certificate 2X the cost of the old $25) or does the $50 version cost slightly fewer points than the old $25 version? Usually when both a $25 and $50 reward are available the $50 costs less that 2X the $25 so it makes the higher value option a little more economical, but I don't know if that's true when one level is just replaced by another.

The old $25 option was 3250 points then went to 3750 just before being discontinued. The $50 option was 6250 and went to 6750. So based on the most recent amounts it is cheaper to get the $50 over two $25s, if they still had $25s.

Just a warning about the safari club. I have been a member for many years. This year I didn't receive my $5 coupon for birthday or $5 coupon for anniversary. I called the number and was told they only email them. They did have my email address but I didn't receive the email. She went on to say that they did email it to me. Long story short, I am out the coupons and don't believe I will ever see another one again. And no I don't have filters on my email either.

Can you use the coupons along with a gift card?

I've managed to earn 2 of the $25 gift cards from mypoints (I booked 2 hotel stays through travelocity, sent flowers for a funeral, and bought regular stuff I would have bought anyway off ebay, made a target purchase that I would have made anyway, etc. all through mypoints - it does add up fast if you do your shopping through them.) I'm close to earning another 2 cards, and if I could get a couple of coupons that would be awesome - I might be able to feed my extended family for "free" on our trip in May!
