Rainforest Cafe club question

Could I sign up at Joe's Crab Shack since it is owned by the same people? This way I could get my $10 G.C. before our trip.

Did you expalin to the operator that you would like to use this when you visit Florida?? I called the number back in August. When they told me to sign up at the restaurant I explained that we didn't have a RFC here and I needed it before I got to Florida. The woman gave me the mailing address ( which I no longer have) and told me to include my Name, address, B-day etc. I got my card in about 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for that info littlestix!!! I'll call tomorrow and see if we can do the same thing. With today's technology you would think there would be a way to sign up on their website. On the other hand, the employees may get some type of commission for every person they sign up at the restaurants. Anyway, for those of us that live no where near a RFC I hope they will allow us to mail our application in.

AAA members can get a 10% discount on the total tab at Landry's Seafood places...Joe's Crab Shack, the Crab House, etc. I have not been able to determine the discount could be applied at Rainforest Cafe though.

Littlestix-Thanks for the info. The lady just left me a message. I did tell her I was in Hawaii when I left her the message. Anyway, a friend of mine just went to Las Vegas. I'm sending her to Rainforest to sign me up. If this fails I'll try calling the number again.

I couldn't find that AAA would give the discount at RFC, but it sure is nice at the other Landry's places. I don't think many people try because it always seems to confuse the waitress, but then the manager applies the discount. We've gotten good deals in the shop at Joe's also with the 10% AAA discount.

How's Joe's crab shack? My friends told me it was junk in L.A. Was debating on going. What kind of stuff do they sell in the gift shop?

Joe's sells souviners with their name or logo on them....a lot of tye dyed t shirts, hackey sacs, baseballs, etc. They have funny tee shirts that mimic the Got Milk? campaign with Got Crabs? A lot of the shirts have something about that particular city like Pittsburgh or Myrtle Beach. They have tye dyed hair scrunchies, and I think maybe some decks of cards, and such. It isn't a place you'd head out to to go shopping, but my kid's have gotten some cute souvineers there.

I called today and was told the only place to sign up was in the restaurants. I explained that I wanted the $10 certificate before our trip and the lady said that I would receive ALL the benefits at the restaurant when I signed up including the priority seating so there was no need to sign up in advance. I may be wrong but I didn't think you got the $10 dining certificate on the spot. I think the lady at the Safari Club made a mistake on this one. If anyone finds a way to sign up before hand please let us know.

That's why I wanted to sign up in advance. I think someone posted that the certificate gets mailed to you. Anyway, my friend is supposed to be signing me up sometime this week. I'll see her the second week on Jan. I hope you can wait until then. I'll tell you if she came home with my certificate. I think they would mail you a certificate so they make you come back.

When I called about a month ago, I was told that I can only sign up at the restraurant and I would get everything at the same time. There is no wait for the coupon to be mailed. We do have a rainforest cafe locally. But I do not wait to go to that mall just to sign up.

That would be great lkohawaii. We'll wait and see what happens with yours and then we'll know if what jjnv and I have been told is correct. The lady I spoke to said everything would be given at the restaurant when you sign up. I guess we shall see!!!

We had to wait for our $10 certificate to be mailed. Luckily, we were back in the area and used it as well as my $5 birthday certificate for heavily discounted items in the gift shop. We got a bag full of kids ts and a couple of toys for something like $1.43. Then we used VKL vouchers for our meal.

Just a FYI, on our last two visits, they no longer allowed us to get a free appetizer with our card when paying for the entire meal with vouchers. They said we would have to order and pay for an additional entree for the freebie. We had always been able to get one prior to December of 2004.

To me, the best benefit of the club is getting priority seating. We used our card twice while in Disneyland at Christmas. We avoided hour long waits both times. During Christmas at DTD in Disneyland EVERY restaurant took walk up only and they were all packed. We really appreciated getting seated so quickly after a long day in crowded parks.

I finally gave in and joined the club the 1st of November. I used the temp. card for 10% immediately. The $10 certificate was mailed to me - much later - 4-6 weeks later. And the certificate had an expiration date of 2-5-05, so I need to travel 60+ miles to go to a Joe's Crab Shack to use it before then. Hopefully, I will make it. Of course, I should have my birthday certificate before then. It will probably come right after I go....... LOL

I've had my membership card since the beginning of this year. I got my $10 coupon about a month later, and I just received my $5 coupon, so I consider my membership free now. I have used it at Joe's Crab Shack and I went to RFC first week of December. There is a party size limit, I believe it is 6.

I want to know if you (or anyone) got the $10 Award (or any reward) and the 10% at the same time. I thought I would get 10% off everything and then use my award(s) with payment. But- as luck would have it - Joe's Crab Shack said I could only use one or the other today. And I did not want to write/call the club if that is the way it was intended.

I never tried using the 10% off while using a gift certificate, but have received the free appetizer while using a gift certificate for $5 or $10 off at the same time. The only stipulation that I remember on the gift certificates is that you order an entree so you can't just use it for a Volcano dessert for almost free.

Thanks for the quick response. I would think they would treat the appetizer and 10% the same way. But.... I sure wasn't happy with them today. First they were out of oysters and they are not going to have them any more. Made two out of four of us rethink what we wanted. Then our server was not the nicest person in the world and was slow with the tea, even after being called over and asking for some. Then they gave me my 10% and when i paid with the certificate and credit card, they told me I could only use one or the other.

Sorry took so long to post everyone. My friend who was supposed to sign me up for the Rainforest Cafe club didn't make it there. Their going again in March so shel'll try one more time and I'll tell you if they give you the 10% coupon right there. If anyone signs up in the meantime please post wheather or not they give you the coupon right there or they mail it.
