Rainbow Loom Help!

M 7 year old boy is still obsessed with RL 3 months after getting his....

We bought the RL kit and organizer for 25$...then we buy bands for 4$ a pack for 600. We also have not had good luck with the generic bands - and many generic packages come in smaller amounts.

We use it for lot of things - this year the kids even made the garland on their tree out of it!

The YouTube videos are really helpful - we watch Ashley and justintoys a lot! He is getting a generic loom for Christmas to more easily do the double designs...

$40 is too much for one! In all honesty my 9 year old wanted one but I didn't feel like purchasing the name brand so I got her one for $7 at Walmart on Black Friday. She will be just as happy to have this one because she doesn't know any different. :thumbsup2

Check at Five below if you have one close to you. Check Walmart, or even Michael's or Hobby Lobby. They normally have better deals than paying that much for them.

I agree $40 is ridiculous. We have a knock off we got for $7 or $8 and a brand name Rainbow Loom we got for $15.99 at Michaels. The brand name is definitely a lot better quality- the loom is easier to use and the hook is better, but the knock off is useable. It is just a little harder to get the hook into the slots and grab the bands with the knock off because the slots aren't as good, and I worry the hook will break any second.

The rainbowloom website has videos that take you step by step through making bracelets and they are easy to follow. Definitely use them. We started off with the instructions from the knock off- the kids gave up in 5 minutes and 3 adults spent 2 hours trying to figure it out. We then went on the internet and found the rainbow loom website and had everyone easily making them in no time! Watching those is also how we saw that the brand ones had slots that were a whole lot easier to get the hook into and a much better loom- so when I saw them at Michael's, I grabbed one.

Oops sorry about the Michaels coupon. Around here we can use it but maybe because it's dying down here.(which I am surpised since we are not usually the first with a fad) buti did see a bunch of knock off kits at BJs yesterday for $9.

If this is the rubber band looms go marshalls/ tj maxx. The loom starter kit $7.99 and a container of extra bands $5.99. Bouggt a lot for toy drive.

But getting any of this without the organizer to hold all of it and keep it organized is just torturing yourself...the organizers are 10-20$ typically ...( here they are 15, but if you buy the loom and organizer together our toy store sells them for 25$...so a 5$ savings).

I agree that $40 seems too high. I bought the original RL at regular price and then found a storage container at IKEA with little compartments for $4.99. It works perfectly. The rainbow loom craze is going strong here. My DD got her's in July and uses it almost every day. I usually get the regular $4 bands. I have seen the ones at the dollar store but they only have around 200 bands as opposed to 600.

best advice I can give is havne of her freinds around to show her how. I know I watched the videos and had no clue. They can all be made on your fingers, even the funky fishbone! I used the cheap bands ($1 for 300 glow ones at walmart). Even my students are jelous! Those containers can be found in your fish and tacke isle for $3.50 and can be personlized with a little paint.

the rainbow loom is one of the things that cannot
be discounted at Michaels. The bands as well.

Actually, the Rainbow Looms at Michaels are excluded from any coupons, so $16.99 is the price. When I bought one for DGD, it came with an extra free pack of 600 bands (and some clasps).

I had read mixed reviews about some of the knock off looms and bands, but that would be your decision. Some people even said they got a knock off when ordering from amazon, so I decided to buy it at Michaels

I did buy this case on amazon for only $6 (reviews say it works for storing the loom and bands - just need to turn the loom on its side)

I bought the rainbow loom that came with 600 bands at Michael's for $16.99 two days ago. It came with a bonus pack of 600 bands (your choice of color). Then I bought an additional 2 packs of 600 bands in her school colors, a large organizer that was awesome (12.99 + 40% off coupon) and the book/ guide on how to make them all for $40 plus a few cents.

I was planning on ordering it from Amazon but it was much better to buy what I wanted and take it home.

Found this by searching Loom Boom on Amazon.

Great for storing and displaying those bracelets the kids xpend so much time on.
