Rainbow Bridge

Can someone please explain fully the concept of the Rainbow Bridge?? I've been able to infer that it is where our pets go when they pass on, but what happens there? I'm afraid my cat is on that journey and I would like to use the concept to help my kids get through it.

To me The Bridge is a place where our pets go and wait for us to follow. It's the perfect world with no pain and no cruelty.

When we cross over, those of us who have touched the lives of animals will go there and be reunited with them.

That will be a beautiful day.

The rainbow bridge is where they go to wait for us. It is a perfect place where they are restored to youth and vigor they feel no pain.Kitties have endless toys to play with and a never empty bowl of milk. scratching posts and comfy spots to nap. Dogs have bones and great places to dig comfy spots to nap, but they dont chase the cats everyone lives in harmony. Horses have clear streams and valleys of waist deep emerald green grass to gallop through. We have lost cats, dogs and horses very dear to us and this is what I believe rainbow bridge is about and when I arrive they will all come running to be with me again. I am sorry for your kittie but she will be going to a beautiful place.

Thanks for the information everyone. Unfortunately, I had to use it today. Kitty went to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. I'm extremely sad, but I'll be okay. I think the Rainbow Bridge really helped my kids, especially DD who turns 7 this weekend. She said to me this evening that she is sad Kitty had died, but glad that she's in a better place. They'll be okay. I think we'll welcome a couple kittens into our lives in the spring.

I am sorry you had to go through this and Bastet bless your kitty, who I'm sure is now in Her loving arms waiting for you.

I don't know if you've ever seen this particular poem before, but it also helped me a lot when I lost my Precious about five years ago.

I will lend to you for a while a kitten, God said.
For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you and should his stay be brief,
you'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
