Rain!!

Well Poo! I just looked at the weather for next week and rain pretty much the whole time. I've done the park in the rain during winter time when there really wasn't any thunder. Have any of you experienced the spring time storms? I'm really hoping it's just a quick rain for maybe an hour and then done. Here's hoping some pixie dust will move all those clouds away!

Don't be too discouraged. It's too early to tell what it's really going to do next week. I wouldn't trust a Florida "seven day forecast" at all. You'll be surprised at how many times the forecast will change between now and when you arrive.

Afternoon showers are common in Florida. It often rains for a short time in the afternoon then blows over.

And don't forget, just because the forecast happens to call for rain, it doesn't mean that it will rain all day long. Chances are, you might get a little rain some of those days. But maybe not! I went to WDW two weeks ago. For the seven days I was there, there was rain in the forecast every single day. It rained a total of 90 minutes one day out of seven! So we had no rain at all six days out of seven, even though the forecast showed rain every day.

So prepare for rain (bring ponchos or buy them when you get there) and hopefully you'll have good luck. And don't forget to bring an extra pair of shoes for everyone, in case it does rain and your shoes soaked. I did have some good luck drying out my wet shoes with a hair dryer, though, so that's always an option!!

Pack some poncho's and an extra pair of shoes - that way the next day you will have dry one to wear while the wet ones dry out. And have fun. in the rain. It keeps the crowd level down at least.

weather.com only really says 60% for thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday.... I wouldn't worry about it too much. Thunderstorms usually aren't all day events. The other days say 10%...so they don't even really know.

My only worry is my 4 year old who only has one pair of shoes that he wears!

Just put on your poncho and go. That's what I've done. Thunder, lightening, all day pouring down rain didn't stop me except for one time in Animal Kingdom. I gave up that day and went shopping at DTD instead. I had a great time anyway.

I did discover that for me taking off my poncho inside out kept me from getting wet if that makes sense. Then when it was time to put it back on, I just turned it right side out and put it on. Some attractions, you have to remove your poncho.

I just made sure I had brought extra shoes on the trip to allow for drying out time and took a mid day break to change my shoes so I wouldn't get blisters.

Don't let any bad weather stop you from having fun.

I was at Epcot today and it rained starting at lunch until close. We loved that it wasn't very busy outside because of the rain. The only downside was that they closed Test track even before it started to rain. I agree with the extra shoes or flip flops. Also, try to get the ponchos that are a little heavier. My family had two types, 1 for $1 and 2 for $1. The one for $1 each was better...sort of like comparing generic garbage bags to a brand name one. If you have little ones and using a park stroller, bring a see through plastic table cloth and binder clips to help keep it in place. We had a lot of people comment and ask us if we purchased it in the park.

I do wish we brought some kind of towel, like a shamwow, to wipe down seats on rides and then wring it out. Some rides allow riders to keep ponchos on, so when the riders keep them on for the ride, the seat gets wet.

forecasters are as good as our local ones then you should not have any issues. The weather forecasts over the past few months have been attrocious.

Our trip last summer had rain all but one day and quite a bit of lightning. There are still a lot of indoor things to do if there is a thunderstorm. That's the time to catch up on the older, forgotten attractions. Tiki and Country Bears here we come.

Thank you for starting this thread because I was feeling really bummed about the weather. Rain does not bother me in the least. Actually my most memorable event was riding Big Thunder over and over in the rain. It was thrilling!! But I will be vacationing with a newbie who is hoping for gorgeous weather as we have been hit by terrible amounts of snow this year.

We are both praying for a Miracle and will handle a light shower here and there

Thanks for the towel recommendation. Last year we brought cheap dollar store rain ponchos but they were useless. The hood didn't cover our heads and refused to stay up. It was so thin, it stuck to us like the bags dry cleaners put over garments. We had to throw them out and just deal with being wet. Perhaps I'll invest in good ones?

Hey DisneyHobbit......do you stay onsite or off? We are staying a full week at Port Orleans Riverside and we are so excited!! I've been there before but I'm travelling with a newbie who is over the moon with anticipation. I'd love to see some sunshine to make her first trip a great one.
