Rain?

So, 2 of the 3 weather websites we have been looking at (constantly!) are predicting rain on our wedding day. :sad1:

Since we are getting married at SBP, I know there is a chance that they could relocate us. Have any of you brides out there had this happen to you?? If so, at what point did Disney decide to relocate you to a different location?? I have seen some pictures of the backup location at the BW and I must say, I am not very impressed. I am really starting to worry! Any and all input/advice would be so much appreciated!

TIA

What time of day is your ceremony? I live in FL and it just started raining pretty regularly this week but most of the rain has been later in the day, like 3pm and after. I don't know the answers to your other questions but I'd say that if your ceremony is before 3 then you'll probably be pretty safe. Rain tends to go in cycles here for some weird reason.

I've heard from a couple other brides that they decide around 6 am - whether that is only for early morning weddings I don't know. I'd ask your planner how many hours in advance they decide, because a I know a couple brides managed to get them to narrow that window (for example, decide 2 hours in advance instead of 6). Hopefully you can get them to hold off a final decision until the last possible moment!

What time are you getting married? I've lived in Florida for a number of years now and you're USUALLY safe in the morning. After that it's pretty spotty, so you may make it inbetween some rainstorms! :)

Our ceremony is set to begin at 5pm. My mother warned us from the beginning to try for an earlier time but being the stubborn person I am, I had my heart set on later in the day. I am going to call our planner on Monday and see what she says. I am also concerned about our park shoots the following morning. They are predicting rain every single day of our vacation which is very upsetting. I have been to Disney twice during the same week in May and never once had a drop of rain. Hopefully the forecast will change but I'm not very optimistic considering the predictions have stayed constant for the last week now.

Try not to stess too much, it is out of your hands at this point. I think figuring out the backup location and finding out when they make the call to switch is a good idea though. The good thing about Florida rain is that is tends to pass quickly. It rarely ever rains for hours here. Sometimes it will only rain hard for 10 mins and then be beautiful for the rest of the day. If you plan on going to the parks that is a good thing because a lot of people leave when it rains. If you wait it out, when it stops the wait times will be really short!

about your shoot, its not common that it would pour down rain early in the morning! and, for ours, which was in january, it had STORMED the night before and was showering a bit and wet out - but we still went, and it was fine! there were moments when it did sprinkle, but we were game to sprint over to the castle at least and there is lots there that is covered, and i wasn't worried about my dress - it was after the wedding after all! i did elect to wear flip flops that morning - partially due to the weather and partly due to lack of sleep and toooooo many wine courses at victoria & alberts the night before!! :scared1: - so mostly i would recommend a "plan b" pair of shoes! i luckily had white flip flops and not my usual reef brown ones, but i do not like the pictures where you can see them. just something to think about!

and i checked the weather about every 6 seconds once we were within the month range. that said, once it is "the day" try, try try not to freak - no matter what it WILL be great! and no, an indoor location isn't going to be "the same" but it will be fine! do you have any "plan b" decor ideas or anything you can do in case you do have to go in that would "lessen the blow"? (plus even if it DID rain or you need to go inside because of logistics and it isn't raining at that moment, you will be able to get great great great pictures outside too!)

It rained on our wedding day...at first I was told that if the rain was on and off, I'd have to make a decision to move indoors by 8am (for a 12pm ceremony). But it rained constantly all night so Disney made the decision for me. I knew it would have to be moved indoors but didn't know for sure until my floral was dropped off and they told me we were inside.

The back-up location wasn't bad. I think they did a great job making the room look good and you really wouldn't have guessed that we were supposed to be outside (at the Yacht Club Gazebo).

Either way, your wedding day will be great! I know it stinks to think that your wedding may be less than what you dreamed of but for us, it really was just a small bump in an otherwise amazing day! You just have to make the decision to not let it bother you since there is nothing you can do to control the weather.

Good luck!

You never know how the weather will change either. We were married on May 27 last year (a Thursday) and for two weeks solid and even up until Tuesday before there was a 90% chance of rain in the morning on the 27th. My wedding was at 10am. I resigned myself that it was going to rain, but as it turned out, the storm didn't happen. The weather was beautiful and sunny and it didn't rain until about 10:00 that night.

So don't give up hope yet, but if it does rain, your wedding will still be amazing. :thumbsup2 You're getting married in Disney World! YAY!!!!

I have to ask... who is pudge?? hahahah. And some good news... weather predictions have changed!!! Partly cloudy on wedding day and sunny the whole rest of the week!!!:banana: Fingers crossed it stays that way!!!

SBP is covered... why can't we/you/us/whoever just stay out there and get married even though it's raining?

I asked this question...If it rains I will provide my guest with the proper rain gear but can we please please please still use SBP. The answer I receved was that if it was a light drizzle then that might be a possibility but if they were heavy rain thunderstorms we would be moved indoors for safety and liability.

I agree with all the Florida residents on this thread. As another Floridian, I can confirm that you'd be hard-pressed to get it to rain for more than 30 minutes at a time here. Much of the late-spring/summer rain showers and thunderstorms are a result of colliding sea breezes and tend to happen in the late afternoon for about 10 minutes or so...

I wish you all the best of luck on your wedding day...remember what they say about rain at weddings. Maybe a little bit of good luck wouldn't hurt :)
