Rain!

Surely someone else needs some of this water. I'm praying that it moves on soon.

When is it going to stop raining? Send some good thoughts our way. I live south of Nashville, TN and we are into our second day of heavy rain with no sign of it stopping. The rain is coming down harder than I have ever seen. Our house is on high land but many people around here have water in their homes. It seems like a lot of roads, even the interstates, around here are closed due to high water. We went out yesterday afternoon and had to take four or five detours to make it back to our house. (We didn't know how bad it was when we started out because, once more, Comcast cable is not working. Honestly, they are the worst excuse for a company. The electricity and phones have worked with no problem. Why can't Comcast deliver service worth paying for?)

We're definitely praying that the rain stops soon! My little sister who lives in a Nashville suburb is stuck at work in Cool Springs, because she can't get home. I was amazed to see how much rain y'all got when I looked at the pictures! :scared1:

That rain was predicted for Huntsville, too, but so far we haven't had a drop. The storm is just staying in the same place and raining and raining and raining!

It's pouring now in south Huntsville, but hopefully we won't get nearly as much rain.

Could someone tell me please if they know if I-40 westbound towards Nashville is open?

My mom is stuck in a hotel btwn Knoxville and Nashville, on her way to my house in Arkansas (to watch my kids for our trip in 5 days!!!!) and says that everything she is hearing is that it is closed.

On the Tenn Dept of transportation website- I see that eastbound is closed but nothing about West.

hope everyone is safe.

I 40 is shut down in various places east and west bound. Even when it stops raining they road crews will have to get out there and deem the road safe. There could be lots of places that look fine from the surface but the water could have washed away the support underneath. I am sorry about your trip but I don't think you mom will be going anywhere for a while. As far as the TDOT website goes we are so overwhelmed here with water that I truly don't think they can keep up with updating everything right now. The people that are in charge of updating that site probably just can't type fast enough. I fyou go back to the website and look at the traffic camera you will see what I mean.

Just announced that I40 w at Old Hickory Blvd/Hwy 100 is closed (this is west of Nashville) due to a bridge that may be unstable. Sorry I don't know the exit number...but it is just a little west of nashville

Just went out for the first time today. Both of the entrances to my neighborhood had multiple National Guard trucks parked by them. I'm guessing that they are getting ready to go in and rescue flooded homeowners from a neighboring subdivision that is closer to the river. The good news is that I looked out an saw the beginnings of blue sky. Five minutes later we are having another downpour but I'm hoping that it is just a clean up shower.

I40 is closed at Old Hickory Blvd. This is west of Nashville in the Bellevue area.
I think the unstable bridge is actually a Highway 100 bridge near McCoury Lane. This is not actually a bridge on I40.

I read on one site, don't remember which one, that I-40 is closed between mile markers 150 and 190, in both directions.

We got all the rain and warnings yesterday, in the Memphis area.

I'm in murfreesboro. I live on a second floor apartment, and it doesn't look like the water is standing anywhere near by, but its definitely coming down hard here!

They talked about rain coming all week long...but I don't think anyone expected this kind of rain. The last time there was this kind of flooding in Middle TN was in 1979

Just announced that I40 is basically closed from Davidson County to Benton County, both directions.

Wonderful, I'm not looking forward to getting out tomorrow for finals. I have no clue how bad it is on the roads by me.

Yes! It's at like 10 in the morning tomorrow. I wish they would, Womack Apts have standing water.

I'm off campus, I had no idea that there was standing water at Womack Lane. Its so crazy that they're not canceling when the CAMPUS is flooded.

I'm off campus too, I saw some pictures on my friends facebook. More then half the campus commutes they just need to think smart for once.

Thanks so much for the info--

It looks right now like mom is going to be either headed back from where she came or finding an alt. route.
