So we leave in 6days. I've been watching the waether like crazy. Looks like it could rain Monday and Tues! :scared1: I'm so bummed out. This is our first WDW trip and I don't want anything to go wrong... how do you handle the rain? Will most of the rides be open still?

Rain will not affect rides being open. A thunderstorm may put a halt to outdoor rides, however.

As long as you're not afraid of getting wet, you may find that those are the best days, as the crowds will be a lot thinner.

Hi,

The chances of a steady, all-day rain at this time of year are slim.

Having said that, if it rains GO TO THE PARKS! Many people will not go in the rain.

In addition, long-range forecasts are extremely unreliable once you get past 3 or 4 days.

In Florida it rains ...alot.Don't let it get you down. You can not control the weather and will go nuts trying.Nothing closes down unless lightning is in the area, and even than it is only shut down temporarily. Grab a poncho and go with it.:goodvibes

Look at rain as a blessing at WDW - grab a poncho and head out to the parks anyway! Most everything will be up and running and you will be able to walk on because most people avoid the parks in the rain. :thumbsup2

Quoted for emphasis.

This is the dry season down here, the chances of an all day rain are next to zero. Rain you may encounter this time of year at most lasts as long as it takes the front to move over you, figure 30 minutes or so and behind that front will be clear blue skies.

thanks for the input! Yes, I think for sure we will just suck it up. lol. I don't mind getting alittle wet. I know my kids don't either.

if weather is worrying that much, central florida might not be the place for you to vacation. a shower or two in the afternoon isn't going to ruin anything... and how accurate is the weather forecast where you are? Do you think they get it any more right in central florida?

Yup - we are the same. Looking forward to a bit of warmth and sun and the forecast is rain :lmao:

The only thing is to look on the bright side - it seems that most things still continue - except the lines can be shorter because of less people about.

On top of that - I have read a lot about a rain day forecast often means rain for an hour or two - then maybe a couple of hours of sunshine etc - so not three days of solid rain (as it looks on the forecast just now).

Last August Tropical Storm Fay spent 5 out of 7 days with us at Disney World and yet we still had a great time. Most of the rides will not close during rain. And usually in Florida it does not rain all day, unlike when we were with Fay. Just be sure to take rain ponchos with you.

unfortunatly there isn't much you can do about the rain...so just go with a fun additute towards it and try for the best.

- take ponchos and don them when the rain rolls in. if just a shower, keep going and hitting rides. most all will still be open in the rain and other fair weather tourists will be hunkered down so wait times will drop a bit. (even if the posted time still states a higher number, ask the CM if that is shorter because of the rain, many times it will be.) if a huge downpour - you might want to have flip flops with you. you can keep moving and not care that your feet are getting soaked. if that isn't your gig, hunker down under or in an a place where the kids have something to do. example:
in MK we have taken reffuge from a downpour under the awning at the teacups. kids went on teacups over and over and over...had a blast.
in Epcot we hide in the Land pavilion or Mexico. so much to do in those places.

check the forcasts each AM before you head out (or the night before) and if they are calling for real miserable soaker of a day one day while you are there, consider a non park day at Disney Quest or something. (especially if you have passes that would include DQ admission) a great place to kill a rainy day if you have video game lovers among you.

by the way - something will go wrong on every vacation....just try to go with the flow.

Those long range forcasts are not at all reliable. Really, I don't even look anymore.

It can literally rain in one park and not another, sometimes brief storms are that localized. Often we go indoors for a few attractions (The Land pavillion in Epcot for example) and when we come out we say "The ground is wet. Oh, did it rain?"

Look on the Weather Channel each morning during your stay. They scroll the "theme park forecast" for Disney World at the bottom of the screen if you tune in at a Disney Resort. Not sure if you get this scroll when staying off site.

That's a great tip. We are staying at Pop Century, and I hadn't even thought they might have a weather channel. I was wondering how we would know what the forecast would be. As so many say here, you really can't tell until a day or two before for sure, unless it is very extreme weather.

I haven't read the whole thread but speaking from experience...take a light jacket, a rain poncho (or buy one there) and enjoy! EPCOT is good to go to as most waits are inside. You can go to Innovations and play, check out Living Seas for HOURS, and so many other things. MK is good because most of the rides are pretty close. Don't let a little rain keep you down...unless you are related to Elphaba and will melt. :)

The weather here in Fl changes every 5 mins, one minute it looks like rain and the next minute the sun is shinning, go and have a great vacation.

I hate to break it to you, but something is likely to go wrong. It may be a big thing or it may be a little thing, but not everything at WDW is going to go exactly according to whatever plan you have in your head. Better to focus on enjoying that you will be at WDW than to spend time worrying about all the things that may go wrong (including the weather, which you cannot do anything about anyway).

Just to let you know. Im going the same time and have been looking at the weather. This morning is said 85 and sunny NO chance of rain for Mon and Tues. THATS how much it changes. It will change until the day before. As much as I am stalking the weather right now do NOT count on it being the same as it predicts 6 days out. :thumbsup2

Exactly - and as a fellow stalker of the same time next week, everyone knows it is completely wrong if it says it is raining, and 100% correct if it says it going to be beautiful and sunny and perfect in every way :lmao::rotfl:

(At least that's the way I view it).

Either way - it will be pleasantly warm and we'll be in Disney World :cheer2::banana::yay::woohoo:

Don't put too much stock in the rain forcasts.

Case in point: The local news was predicting rain in Orlando on Sunday March 22, 2009. It was my day to go by myself to MK while with a cheer group. No rain in sight on Sunday March 22, but the next morning Monday March 23, without warning we woke to a light rain. It kept the parks not crowded that morning and we still went to EMH at AK. It rained a bit before it opened and we ducked inside the gift shop at Rainforest Cafe till opening. It was just spritzing by then but that is it.

Point is, rain is rain. You can't stop it, but if you stressed yourself out you won't enjoy your trip. Just wait to see what happens and then just go with the flow. Some of the best times are when it's raining.
