Rain is in the forecast on Sunday when we arrive with our 3 year old and 1 year old. I'm bringing extra shoes and I've bought the ponchos. Hopefully will be getting the double stroller cover tomorrow--if I can't find one, I'm really in deep doodoo.

My question is: Do I really want to brave the parks in the rain with kids this small? I think I can cut a poncho to fit the 3 yo, but the 1 year old seems to small for a poncho. What kind of rain gear can I get him?

Will the stroller cover really protect the double stroller? How do I dry it if it gets wet?

Any advice on how to keep the kids from getting sick if we have to spend the day in the wet rain, then the A/C?

We are staying at the Dolphin. Are there alternatives to going to the parks if it's really raining too hard? My 3 year old will not be happy spending the entire day in the hotel room, although he will watch tv for a couple of hours if the right thing is on.

Thanks,
Sherri

if you get a proper stroller cover for your double then you should be fine, the 1 year old will be nice and snug and dry under there.

I would consider finding the stroller cover essential, with it you can have a great day, without it, you will be miserable - once your stroller gets wet it will take ages to dry, but if you keep it covered then it should stay nice and dry.

I would get a raincoat for the 1 year old before you travel, I don't know if they are easy to find over there, but we can get some great little rain suits here that even have waterproof trousers in them
In fact, I would get a rain coat for both kids - the ponchos are ok, but a decent raincoat will be more comfortable, and you can stick them in the basket of the stroller if you don't need them.

we spent a couple of days in the rain last summer, including one day at Epcot when it just poured down - we still had a very good time, and I certainly wouldn't waste a day in the hotel room.

If they get drenched then I would just stick them in a nice warm bath when you get in, and dry them off afterwards. If you have any control of the a/c, you could turn it down a tad it does always seem particularly cold when it's been wet outside.
It's not going to be cold outside, just wet, so it's not much different to spending the day at the pool

I too say get a rain coat instread of the poncho. My DS did not like poncho's at that age but loved his cartoon rain coat.

Another idea is not to worry about the three year old geting wet. It will be hot and he will be more comfortable wet than in a hot rain coat. If it's an all day rain, I would put sandles on him and take a couple changes of dry clothes and then let what happen- happen. He will love stepping in every mud puddle he can find. If you are concerned about the A/C, you might want to leave you room temp up when you leave and avoid indoor shows while wet. Epcot seems to be a good choice for a rainy day. Another thought is to do a water park if there is no lighting with the system. You will all be wet anyway, it will still be hot, and the crowds might just be lower!!

We have had great days in the rain. Don't worry.

I found my tandem double stroller cover at Baby Depot inside burlington coat factory. They have the side by side one also.Brand is Comfy Baby about $10. It fits my Peg Perego Tender perfectly.

Our local Baby Depot didn't have any double stroller covers, according to the person on the phone.:( Babies R Us has them. I'm heading there as soon as my dh gets home from work, and before he has to go to his second job--gotta have the money for this trip! Hopefully, the Babies R Us will have a nice one, if not the same brand.

We brought two single covers for my daugther stroller which worked great. I do think you need to have the stroller covers .
And rain gears, it doesnt matter what kind,

I would think of getting them sandels to wear, that way they will not have wet feet all day long.
I did bring a light weight jacket at night because even in the summer after it rains, if you get wet and you some times get to cold when you walk inside.
