It is pouring hard and we are curious about how it will effect the party tonight. Any thoughts?

I don't think they'll cancel. As to what they'll do with the candy stations and calvacade, I really don't know. But I don't think they would cancel the party all together.

Farmgirljen, I'm praying the rain lets up too! I don't think my daughter can wear her costume. With all the puddles out there, it's going to ruin her white costume. I worked late at night too to get her horse costume done in time for this party. I'm sad about the rain but talking to the kids, they said they've had a lot of fun so I'm not going to stress it. It's been so could, we're going to run to Walmart now and get some warmer clothes to wear under their costumes. I don't think they can do the fireworks with this rain, nor the calvacade. If they don't have the treat stations, then that will really stink! Those tickets were pricey! Oh well! Disney vs Nature, Nature 1, Disney 0

I. Am sorry about your daughters costume but wet soggy costumes won't be fun either.. I am really hoping they don't cancel too much though.

I hope it lets up so those going won't miss out! I'd be bummed about not being able to wear my costume.

They won't cancel. We went to the party a few years ago when it rained. Fortunately it only rained hard for a short time, but they did move the location for pictures with Minnie and Mickey. I was disappointed that we didn't have the Halloween backdrop, but at least they were still able to take pictures. I live about 20 minutes from DLR and it's only drizzling here, so hopefully it won't rain hard tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed that you get to see the fireworks. We tried to see them last year, but they were canceled due to wind. No chance to see them this year as we aren't doing the party this year due to the higher prices. We already have APs, so I couldn't justify the added expense. Have a great time and don't forget the umbrellas!

Tonight or tomorrow, Please let us know how rainy it was in the parks and what did or didn't happen.

I read somewhere, and now I can't find it anywhere, that if it rains, trick or treat stations will be re-located to indoor locations. I would imagine the same would be true with characters. As for the Cavalcade, no idea.

A side note, we went to the Pirate & Princess Party at WDW a couple of years ago. It poured during the parade, we stood in the middle of Fantasyland, in the rain, to watch the fireworks. We thought, only in Disney!

As far as DL, some outdoor rides may be closed, but you should still have a great time! However, weather may impact the fireworks show.

It will happen, they may cancel the cavelcade and they will move the treat stations indoors but it will happen! Good luck tho, it isn't fun to ToT in the rain, even at DL! :)

Wow crazy no rain out here in northern California today well at least not where we are in the east bay

Light to med rain for the first 1-1.5 hours. after that it was smooth sailing. Treat stations were out in force and the Crowds seemed busy but were having a great time.First time here during halloween but it will be a trip to remember

Sounds like you had a nice night at the party. :cool1:

We went last night. It drizzled on and off, but the party continued as normal. Some treat stations were moved to covered areas, but they still had characters and the rides were open. The rain stopped completely by about 7:30-8pm, so the fireworks and costume parade were a go. Crowds seemed lighter than I expected and we had a good time. Look for my DIS blog on our party experience by the end of the week. :)

Maybe this should be for another thread, but how did it go with clearing out the non ticketed holders?

From what people have been saying on our Halloween Superthread, it doesn't appear that there was a problem with that (they went to the Friday night party) so far. I think someone said that the CM's at DLR were a little less aggressive in getting people out than they are at WDW (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the essence of it). But it was only the first night of the MHP. If that's the worst scenario then it will only get better from here, I'm sure.

Someone also said it was crowded for the fireworks anyway (again, on Friday), so clearing out people didn't really help much to prevent crowds from congregating for Halloween Screams.

Also, someone on our thread said that a CM reported that last night's (Tuesday's) MHP sold the fewest tickets and would have the lowest attendance of all the MHP's this year.

Anyway, check out the Table of Contents in the Halloween Superthread for links to photos from the Party.

CM's asked at the entrance of each land for your wristband but that was at the beginning of the party. With the rain and everyone in ponchos, I think it would be very easy for someone to linger in one spot and still stay for the party. The lines for treat stations were really long but the candy was really good, mostly chocolate of some sort. The wait for rides was much shorter than the wait for the candy! Healthy snacks were better this year. They had the good fruit leather that you can find at Trader Joe's and Henry's. My kids were pleased. The rain did delay some activities, like the Buzz dance party. They had to clean off and dry the floors before they could have the dance. But Buzz and crew were out doing a meet n greet. We were able to get a front row seat 5 mins before first calvacade by being on the side of the street closest to IASW. We walked up to the side section of the hub near tomorrowland 10 minutes before fireworks and had a good spot too. I don't know if it was the rain or just a Tuesday. Treat stations were covered but didn't seem as plentiful as last year. They were also hard to find. We couldn't find the one in fantasyland by Dumbo. I don't know if they did away with the Mickey ghost markers or if it was because of the rain but they always made them easy to find in previous years. Adventureland and New Orleans Square was crazy busy so we didn't even go in there. We had a good time but were tired of all the rain and everything being wet so left the party at 9:45pm. We had a lot of fun despite the rain. I felt the ticket price was a little on the high side for what we got.

This agrees with what we experienced last night. With it being a Tuesday (school night), early in the Halloween season, and raining all day, the crowds were much lighter than we expected. It turned out to be a nice evening, and we were able to see and do everything we wanted. I would expect the rest of the nights (especially Fridays) to be much more crowded. Oh, and the candy was much better than last year's.
