Rain, Surprise Birthdays, Rain, First Visits -(Ginny is deceased-Prayers for her.)

Hi Heather, Just got home from work. What a long day for sure.

I don't understand why parents do what they do. My sis thinks mom is a saint and I thought that of my dear dad. Still do. And she thought everything dad did was wrong. My did never did the favorite game. I have always told my brothers (of whom I am very close) that our mother was the only thing sis and I have in common. They feel the same way. It just makes me sick. When we were younger we were so close. But I do have the best brothers in the world. We have always been so very close. My dad passed away in 1987 so older brother has been good for me. He moved close about 7 years ago and I'm thankful.

My mom would never come and stay with me at my house, she always would stay at sis's. She came to my new house once and that was before we even moved in.

I've done something else for Sheri's birthday. It's a surprise. I called Sandi in Tennessee and she can fly RT to Kansas City for $100.00. So she is going to come on Tuesday afternoon and I will tell her to meet us where ever Sheri picks for dinner and surprise her. She can get a 6:00pm flight home and be home by 8:30. That will be so cool. I'm excited I found a surprise I can do for her since we all got surprises this year.

That Jay is great. She writes really good reports. You can so tell the work she puts in those trips to make them so special.

But for those of us who can't afford to do the things that she does she does give lots of good ideas you can do for free or very little cost. She is very very sweet.

Have a great day tomorrow. Should be done at work by 1:30 if the phone people get done with my DSL line.

And tomorrow night is meet the Tiger's night at the football field. That is always fun. They introduce the girls fall sports, boys and cheerleaders. Austin is doing football and Andrew soccer.

That is REALLY cool that Sandi gets to surprise Sheri. You have such a fun family!

Have a great time at the boys' school tomorrow night. I'm going scrapping with a friend, I think. If my mom didn't forget that she said she'd watch the kids.

We have a fairly full weekend planned, but hopefully I'll be able to pop in.

We leave 5 weeks from tomorrow!

I'm hoping Sheri will like it. I know they spoke today and planned New Years again. We had a ball last year together.

I'm sure your mom won't forget. Scrapping is fun if I didn't procrastinate so bad.

have a great weekend. I noticed and forgot to say how close you are. unreal.

Considering my PTR started with, I think, 373 days and today is 35 days (by Lisa's way of counting) it is UNREAL! But it's a good unreal. ;)

I use to have a very close relationship with my Mom. That is until she moved in with us and became controlling. She tried to take over how my home is run and it just didn't work out. She moved in with my sister and now we get along a little better.

You are such a sweet Mom, I only hope I can have the same relationship with my kids you have with yours.

BTW, I just checked on Dale and he is asleep with the C-PAP running, so far so good :lmao:.

I knew I had to be someone different to be that mom I wanted to be. That was such a big fear in my life. It's so funny, I didn't care about the cancer, my weight, anything. It was just be different than my mom. I will admit she wasn't terrible until after my Dad passed away. I know she was terribly lonely. They had such a relationship that we all want. My dad worshiped her and she him. I felt she just didn't know what to do with herself. The fact that she remarried a year after didn't help the way I felt. She was married 9 years to the sweetest guy. After he died she was alone for 4 years then she married again. Another wonderful man. I don't know how she got so lucky. He passed away right before their 2nd anniversary. And she has been the pits since. She never leaves her house and lays around all day. Too bad she's not sick. I wish she would move in with my sister. They are deserving of one another. I am such a bad girl. :rolleyes1 I think that is the problem. Mom cannot control me. My girls get so angry with me because all I want is my Mom's approval and she just can't give it. So I keep on trying and keep getting shot down. My family knows just where they stand with me. There is not a day goes by I don't tell them what they mean to me and how much I love them.

As I've said before I don't think I was always a sweet mom. Age is a wonderful thing and I treasure what we have.

I hope Dale does well. It really is amazing how it helps. I don't really have true apnea. My breathing is very shallow and can't get any air in my lungs.

Heather, on your trip to Disney, be sure to break away a day or so where it's JUST YOU AND YOUR BOYS! Oh, yeah, DH should come along, too! That will help your sanity, no doubt!

On the mother living with you issue, I have a couple of opinions. It seems to me that mother's, especially those who have controlling personalities, don't ever seem to realize that you have grown up!! It's like if you are living in their home, or they are living in yours, they want to mother you to death and correct you, forgetting that you are now an adult and are quite capable of making your own decisions.

I couldn't take that. DH's mother is wanting to build a house on her property, leaving her homeless for several months while her house is under construction. She would have to rent an apt. or something in the meantime, because I know ahead of time that I could not have her living with us. We'd probably end up having some sort of physical altercation before it was over with! I can tolerate her in low doses, but I know I couldn't have her living under the same roof. DH, fortunately for him, agrees!

I couldn't have my mother living with me, either. I just love having my own space. So you guys are so much better than I am. I could never do it!!!

I have no idea how Don and I and Princess were able to live with Sheri and Mike for 9 months. But we did manage. We shared housecleaning. Don vacuumed, I did bathrooms, Mike did the other rooms and Sheri did the kitchen. Within an hour it was done. Wish she would come and help me now. :) I know the main thing that helped was Mike. When your son-in-law is your age it seems to take the stress away. He was long past trying to be like Sheri's dad or any competitive issues that younger couples can have. And since Sheri has become a mother (almost 18 years ago) we truly have been best friends. She has other friends and is very active with school for the kids but it is a given anything those kids did or do we are there and everyone knows it. Do I count my Blessings? Every day for sure. It an amazing relationship and an unusual one.

As everyone knows I could never have my mom live with me. I did inviter her to but she said no. WHEW. I could have my mom in law though.

Heather, Mel is right make a day of just your family. They will all appreciate it.

Hi all! How is everyone doing today? I am having a great day so far! Had an ultrasound this morning! It was so amazing being able to watch my baby move all around! I am actually measuring a little bit further along than I thought. I thought I was about 18 weeks, but am measuring 18 weeks 4 days. So, my due date may change from 1/16 to 1/12, it is up to my Dr. But it was awesome. Got some great pics too! He/she is laying face down! LOL! If you are a friend of mine on FB you can see the pics there! Well, hope everyone enjoys the weekend. :cool1:

How wonderful! That is such a surreal experience, isn't it? I used to bring hom my tapes and just watch and cry as I saw my little one. Enjoy this amazing time! Was it still too early to view the sex of the baby?

I think it is so wonderful the relationship that you have with your girls. You may not have had it with your mom, but your girls will know how it feels to have a great relationship with you and you have the joy of having it with them! :goodvibes

Awesome D. We never had such high-falutin stuff when I had children. That is so amazing to see. Hope you have a great weekend.

It is great. I always feel so blessed. Sometimes when the kids were smaller and I would tell them I'll watch them and to do go do things with their friends and Sheri would say Mom, you are my friend.

We are not finding out what we are having! We want to be surprised! However, it is hard not knowing, especially when we know we can easily find out! LOL!

It would definitely be hard not knowing, but oh the surprise when you deliver! That's going to be so memorable, and then you'll have a lovely story to tell your son or daughter.

I saw them, too. Yes, it does bring back wonderful memories, doesn't it? Enjoy it, Dee!

Of course we didn't have such things with my pregnancies. When Sheri was expecting Austin she was really sick and had to have ultrasounds a lot. I so loved them. She wanted to know what she was having. Being a single mom she knew she only had some much money to spend. She lived with us but she bought everything necessary for that baby. When she delivered and they both were in intesive care for 9 days it kinda changed her work schedule and what she could and could not do. I would spend the night in the hospital with her and where I worked was across the street so everytime Aust needed fed I got to be the one to do it. She didn't even get to see him till he was 4 days old. Needless to say Aust and I have a close bond. Sheri and Austins father married when Aust was 7 months old. The day he started walking. Way too early. By the time Aust was 2 they had separated. It took almost 2 years for the divorce cause he fought it so. Stupid man/child. The judge granted sole custody to Sheri and he was not allowed to contact Sheri or Aust til Aust is 18. After Sheri and Mike were married 2 years (law in MO for adoption) Mike adopted him and Austin changed his name from Bradley Austin to Austin Wayne (Don's middle name). I am so grateful to Mike to give Aust such a good father figure. As Mike always said. Sheri only brought one child to the table. He needed a mother for Andrea and Andrew. It was a good mix.

Then when Alex came along they didn't know what they were getting until 2 weeks before he was born. Sandi and Tim were at the hospital when he was born and Sandi got to give him his first bottle. They were so fortunate to get him. So I never got any ultrasound pics of that little dickens. Sandi posted his first day of middle school on my wall on fb.

I cannot believe Austin walked at seven months old! That's amazing. Shows his determination, I think. I am so glad that Mike has adopted him and become such a wonderful father to him. And how wonderful that Andrew and Andrea got a wonderful mother out of the deal, even if Andrea hasn't quite realized what a great woman Sheri is. She will, give it time.

Alex, to me, looks JUST LIKE HIS DADDY. I know he's adopted, but the resemblance couldn't be there more. I know adopted children, and it is always amazing to me how their features begin to resemble those of their adoptive parents. I think it's b/c they are placed where they are by HIM and they are with the parents HE meant for them to have all along. HE knows what HE's doing.

I so agree with you. I think maybe Alex picked out his mom and dad before he arrived like Mitchell did with you. :cloud9:

If you look back at that picture I posted of all of them together I think they all look related. Andrew and Andrea have Mike's blue eyes. Austin's are hazel like his moms and Alex's are brown like Tims. But they have such similar features. I always say Sheri and Mike were made for each other. When Aust was little he always asked Sheri for a little brother and she would say what would we name him. Andrew was always the answer. Aust was almost named Andrew. And Mike is from Austin, TX so that made it even better. I know for a fact that HE had his hand in this arrangement.

Have a great Saturday.

Ginny the whole story is so sweet. I know Andrea will come around eventually. And I think they all look like each other too.

Dee, I forgot to say it last night, but CONGRATULATIONS on the ultrasound! That's so exciting. I don't know how you're going to stand not knowing whether you'll have a boy or girl, but what a wonderful surprise. :goodvibes

Hope you all have a good day!
