Posting live from VWL. We arrived on Saturday (with first night at POP Century). We are sure getting the rain. Lots of rain yesterday and today looks worse. I know Florida needs the rain but why did it have to choose this week to do it. Crowds have been light though, which is good. We have a great studio, first floor near elevator. No room issues at all.

Sunday we did MK and yesterday Epcot. Today we plan to head to Kona Cafe for breakfast then go over to AKV and check out Kidani. Might head to HS after that. We have dinner ressies tonight at the Garden Grill.

Well that's all for now. I'll post back later with any updates.

I'm sorry. We're going down on Friday and I have been watching the weather forecast closely so I can start packing...there appears to be a sub-tropical storm off the East coast that is going to linger thru Thursday at least. Looks to be a drought buster for the whole state!

Sorry your getting all the rain, look on the bright side the flowers really must be gorgeous. 2 weeks ago when we were there it was record highs and the locals were complaining how bad the need rain.

How are the crowds?

Sounds like you're having a great trip anyway. Our october 2007 trip was rained on every single day but we still had fun. Here's hoping you see some sunshine very soon. Looking forward to more updates. :goodvibes

Crowds have not been bad. We've done a number of ride walkons (Buzz, HM, SSE, etc.). Even standby at Soarin hasn't been too bad. We did a 30 min. standby for Splash.

Im in VB right now watching mauri povich because it's still raining since yesterday. Coudn't go to the beach yesterday because of the rain, headed to Universal Studio where we walked in the rain as well. :sad2:

just got back last week from a long weekend. we got the end part of the nine day dry stretch w/ temps in the high 90's everyday. hopefully there can be a happy medium soon :dance3:

The good thing about the rain is it keeps the crowds down...(trying to put a positive spin on it!) I'm sorry you're getting it during your vacation. It would be nice if it was only at night, or just the afternoon rains.

As Anal Annie said, there is a low-pressure system with a lot of rain over the Bahamas. It is projected to move north and then west, with most of the computer models taking it a little north of WDW. It's a big system, so it will cover most of the middle part of the state.

Here in Miami, we have a 90% probability of rain today, gradually decreasing to 50% on Friday (when I'm supposed to play golf). I'd expect WDW to be pretty wet this week.

On the bright side, it will be a warm rain and you can probably dodge some of it. You are already experiencing MUCH less park traffic than we encountered last week, so that's a plus.

I must be one of the weird ones because I love it when it rains. That means less people at the parks and I am ALL for that!

Tuesday, 2:15 Update

Well we're back in our studio. Left here and took boat to Contemporary and then monorail to Polynesian. Great breakfast at Kona - DW and myself split the Big Kahuna. Then we took the monorail on around to MK. Walked around a while there and did a walkon on POC. After that rain started getting heavier, so we left MK and took bus to AKV and got off at Kidani.

Well I have to say, I was a little underwhelmed with Kidani. Lobby and gift shop were both smaller than I was expecting. Also there were no animals to be seen. Finally looked at Sanaa menu and really wasn't that impressed. Would much rather have a CS there. Anyway I think in long run our first choice will be Jambo House.

Now we're back in room and DW is watching a soap opera. Plan to head back out around 5:00 for Epcot and our Garden Grill ADR.

Later.

PS - I've uploaded some photos. See the link below to get to them. There are two folders - one for my digital camera and one for my iPhone.

(fellow)WolfpackFan, Sorry the weather's not cooperating. I guess you know it's not much better here (COLD for this time of year) so the lesser of the two evils... hehehe

Maybe that storm will cross on over into the Gulf and get outta there. That seems to be what Fischel's leaning towards right now anyway. They're even talking about naming that thing. The nerve! Two weeks before the season even starts! :lmao:

I hate for anybody's week to get screwed up due to weather since we all get to go so seldom. We go a lot in Sept so we've fought the tropical systems too though I'm sure this early season freak-storm wasn't somthing anyone was expecting. Florida's usually a lot like NC: if you don't like the weather, wait an hour! :rotfl2:

Good luck. Hope that stuff gets outta there and you have a great rest of the week! :goodvibes

Tuesday update continued -

Well we (DW, myself and friends who are with us) discussed canceling our Garden Grill ADR and eating here at VWL instead. Friend and myself went down to check on the situation and there were no reservations to be had this evening (short of 9:00). So we stopped in the bar to discuss the situation as well as solve the problems of the world :lmao:. Over several beers we decided to h___ with the rain and keep our Garden Grill ressie (rain or no rain). As we were walking back to VWL though, the rain has really slacked off. So plan A is still in effect.

More later.

PS - I am so disappointed we can't get the Carolina Hurricane hockey games on TV down here. Also Bob - it looked to me you all were getting good weather today. I imagine my golf buddies were having a good time without me.

My DD and her college roommate are also at VWL. They arrived Sunday with bright sunshine, but now rain. She said she has never seen it rain so hard and for so long. They are gettting a great deal of use out the dryers!!!

They have been able to do a lot. Sunday, EPCOT, Monday MK and today AK. They are there until Friday and it looks like the rain will continue. Even in the rain, you can still have a good time. I know they were hoping for sunny days, but at least they are making the best of it!!

Hope that everyone there is having a great time even though the weather isn't the best.

Connie

Yea. The games are on Versus/HD but I don't recall ever seeing Versus at any of the resorts. Go figure. I really can't decide whether we were off last night or whether $pittsburg really is that much better. With Cole and Ruutu likely out tomorrow night, I'm afraid we're about to get the answer we don't want to hear. Still a loyal fan. They've surprised me before. :)

Yep. Your buddies had a near perfect golf day today. VERY windy and koolish, sorta March-like but nothing like the Sunday and Monday.

WDW in a monsoon and cold beer in the bar at VWL. Hmmm... :confused3 Wanna trade? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oh well... 32 days, 4 hours and 44 minutes and 22 seconds to Kidani (but who's countin'!). Hangin' tight. :)

We went to DD to see a movie, and just got back. We drove. The car thermometer read 68 degrees, and on the radio they said that since the rains began a few days ago, we've received over 6 inches so far.

We've been to Florida and Disney numerous times, but I've never seen such continuous rain. In the past I've seen heavy showers that might last an hour or so, but then clear up. Not this time.

For now, can't remember the last time I saw the sun.

You're right, Bill. I've been down there during tropical stuff and even a couple of mild hurricanes but even then, they were out of there is a day, day and a half TOPS.

The afternoon showers and T-storms are pretty normal, much like here in eastern NC. I'm like you. I don't mind those.

More power to ya'll. They desperately need the rain in central FL. As irony would have it, a minor sub-tropical system was probably the only thing that was going to bail those folks out. I do hate it for ya'll though. :(

I feel your rain pain!! I am currently at POR. I am here for a conference, but decided to stay at WDW. My DH and DS came down on Friday and we played golf at LBV on Fri and Magnolia on Sat. We were so lucky to get in two rounds with no rain! I agree that I have never seen it rain so hard for so long.. Watching the weather channel in the room, looks like it is not going to let up anytime soon!

I am a Red Wings fan, and wish the games were on ESPN!
