It rained here in Iowa all of last week. We leave for Disney World on Monday and it shows rain for the entire week. Boo! Guess we will learn to make the best of it in our happy place!:):):):)

Actually all the forecast shows is scattered thunderstorms daily. It showed the same thing last year at this time, and it will show the same thing next year. That is the normal pattern for May -- you can get a couple of 1/2 hour thunderstorms during the day. Otherwise it is sunny and hot. The storms take away nothing from your trip and are often a welcome temporary relief from the heat.

I wouldn't worry too much. Here in Iowa our rains are from storm systems moving across the state and can last for several hours. Down there it seems to be from pop-up storms and only last a short time in the afternoon. Plan to have some down time in the afternoon. I will say two years ago we did have an all-day rain when we were there. It cleared up in the evening so we took advantage of magic hours, and of course enjoyed our villa/resort during the day!

Please do not begrudge any forecast for rain in central Florida. We are in a drought situation and need the rain desperately.

The real problem with the rain is that it tends to water down your beer. :drinking1

I was just in WDW from 5/5-5/10, before I left I checked the weather and it called for rain every day. While I was there, it was beautiful during the day and rained in the evening, usually around 7:00 or so, it rained for a a few hours and then stopped and it was nice again. The only day it actually rained in the afternoon was Wednesday and it was a down pour for about an hour around 1:00 or so. It cleared up nicely for a few hours and then around 7:00 rained again.
It really was not bad, I was able to get done alot during the day, in the evening I shopped or went back to the hotel to rest, one night I went to the movies. The parks were open pretty late so once it stopped raining, I went back to a park.

^^^^^^agree...our trip was from 4/28-5/1 .....before we left the forecasts showed anywhere from a 20% to 50% chance of rain each day.....the only day we got a few sprinkles in the morning was 5/1

It's the South. It can rain or not at a moments notice.

If it is a rainy day, be glad. Many of the local folks stay home those days.

I don't mind the people. I cannot stand being in the rain. Being around all kinds of people is a joy after being surrounded by my kids and 4 walls every day.

I'm sure no one begrudges the state of Florida of much needed rain. However, when you're coming out of winter and have been looking forward for months to a Florida vacation, you don't want to be stuck in a hotel room during a downpour, no matter how short or long it lasts. In March 2010, we had two full days of heavy rain and it was very difficult keeping a then-5 year old busy. It was also the last two days of our trip, so it ended our vacation on a low note.

Thank you toniosmom. That was exactly what I was thinking. I've been reading the dis for over a year and have been careful about posting. It seems very easy to offend someone on here even if that was not how it was meant. I just didn't want to get poured on, that doesn't mean I want fl to have a drought.
