I just checked the 10day weather prediction, and it shows rain for Sat and Sun (doesn't show Monday yet)....

Does the rain spoil anyone's plans??? We had planned Saturday Animal Kingdom...and Sunday Epcot (illuminations)....ugggh!

I can't believe what a "damper" I feel now because of the rain prediction! Thanks!

If there is one thing I don't trust it is a long range weather forecast.

I wouldn't let is ruin your trip or even planning for the trip.

Last year we were at WDW when it "dumped" rain. It stopped after a couple of hours and we still enjoyed the day.

My DH and I were at WDW from 11/9-11/16. A few days before we were to go, the long-range forecast sounded like the last three days of our trip were going to be a complete washout. The only day it rained was the day we got there and we had a few sprinkles one other day. I am amazed that weather people continue to do long-range forecasts when they have a hard time getting tomorrow's forecast correct!! :D I wouldn't worry about it since whatever is going to happen will no matter how much you DO worry! Just have a great trip -- I wish I were going back!!!!

P.S. As I have heard others on this board say, a rainy day in Disney World is better than a day at home!!

I've also been checking the long range forcast since I will be there from Dec 1-14, but I don't worry about the chance of rain. I'm looking more at the temps at this point. According to accuweather.com, 12/4 (my birthday...) and 12/5 it's supposed to be cloudy with possible rain. That's hardly a washout and I'm not going to worry about it. If we do end up with a total rainy day I may change our shedule and have the rainy day be a rest day, but if I wasn't going to be there long I would have my poncho ready and go have a great time.

Every trip there has been some rain forcast and we've never had a real rainy day, usually just an afternoon thunderstorm, if even that. Obviously all bets are off when a tropical storm or another large storm is coming, but they seem to forcast at least some rain most days. I won't worry about the forcast...yet.

I say you shouldn't go especially that weekend any ways. Thats just one less person I have to stand behind :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :earseek:

Its raining its pouring the old man is snoring went to bed bumped his head and WE'RE STILL GOING TO SEE MICKEY IN THE MORNING.

I once heard a comedian say that he wished he was a meterorologist. He said it the only job you can be wrong every day of your career and still have a job.

Just make sure you dont take all my scool bread or I WILL BE MAD!!

Agree with Caverilll. It said rain on Sat. 12/4 this morning and now it's forecasting
partly cloudy! It will change 10 times before next Friday, so don't fret! We'll see you down there the 5th!

Yes, definitely don't go to the parks if it's raining. There's NOTHING to do at WDW when it's raining! :p

I know that it makes it harder to plan and annoying because you're in and out of ponchos, but to let a normal Florida rainstorm spoil your entire vacation is silly. No vacation anywhere is always going to have perfect weather.

Animal Kingdom can be great fun if it's raining -- different animals come out to play, and there's no problem getting wet on Kali River Rapids! All the big shows -- Tarzan, Lion King, etc -- are indoors and will be presented even if it rains (unless we're talking hurricane deluge, which we're not), and probably the only thing that would be cancelled is the parade.

At Epcot, you won't be able to ride Test Track, and some of the live entertainment won't be out on the streets, but otherwise, everything is up and operational in the rain. Even IllumiNations will run in the rain, and the lasers actually look a lot cooler when it's raining.

Get out of the mindset that rain means constant, never-ending, all day rain and into the mindset of how many fewer people will be there and how much fun you'll have jumping in puddles in between attractions. And then enjoy yourself!

:earsboy:

SHHHHH..................

Dont listen to them its going to POUR, cancel now while you can and that goes for anyone else planning on being there Dec 3-5.

10 day forecasters are undoubtedly looking at the huge tropical wave currently in the mid atlantic and trying to model when it will get to florida

I'm arriving 12/4 and saw that thunderstorm prediction this morning. Now it says partly cloudy and 77. Sunday scattered t-storms and 78. I watch the predicted temps more, because that effects if I pack shorts or jeans. High 70's would be wonderful! I've had trips in early December where it was low 60's almost the entire time, got very cold at night. The normal high is mid 70's, I'll happy with that!

I don't ever trust the weather forecast when we go down to fla. One minute they'll forecast downpour, as the day gets closer, the forecast slowly gets better, downpour, scattered rain, light drizzle, cloudy overhead, next thing you know we get down there the weather will say it's sunny. Just bring a poncho to be prepared, but I'd just keep your plans as is until you actually wake up in the morning and stick your head out the window.

Have you ever noticed that the long range forecast changes daily?? :umbrella:

This thread has made me think, what will happen about the taping of the christmas parade if it does rain a lot on those days?

Last year it rained on us once at Epcot. Just bring some comfortable shoes, an extra pair of socks, and a poncho for your trip. You'll be okay.

Don't get yourself too worked up about rain in Florida. It's a completely different animal.

Prepare to be comfortable. Pack a parka or bring an umbrella in your backpack.

Rain in Florida can be very inconsistant. It may rain in Adventureland yet not in Tomorrowland. It's not necessarily consistent downpour.

So if rain is predicted, more than likely, that far out we're looking at infrequent showers and such. There may not be any at all.

So take it as a point for preparation. I wouldn't let it interfere with your planning as far as attending the event.

If you don't like the forecast at Weather.com just go to accuweather.com. it will be different! ;) So will wunderground.com

It is futile to even look. Pack a couple articles of warm clothes just in case and you'll be set. :)

Just to show how you can't trust weather forecasts, I thought the forecast for yesterday was clear. When I checked weather.com last night around 8:00pm, they had a huge line of rain storms going through. My biggest worry is Candlelight Processional on 12/6. Anything else I can work around.

regarding Fl's weather. Blink and it changes. from experence WDW can be alot of fun in the rain. Just make sure you bring a poncho and away you go while everyone else is running for cover you'll have the ride to yourself.

Yesterday we weren't supposed to get rain and yet it rained off and on all evening. Just repeat this mantra "It's Florida. Expect rain."

Even though it says rain, did you see the percentages? Most days it's 30%. I saw on December 5 it's 60% (as of today).

To me 30% says there's just enough chance of rain that the mets want to say there's a chance of rain to cover their butts in case it does rain. If it doesn't rain, people will be happy.

But if they forecast sunny and 80 with no prayer of rain and it showers for 15 minutes, they will catch all heck from everyone.

So don't stress.
