Just back from a week at the world. This time of year you will need ponchos each day. We had rain in the afternoon each day in the afternoon and one evening during illuminations. We just took our ponchos we bought back in 2005 in the parks. I like them better because that are thicker material then the cheap ones you can buy at the dollar store. By the time you buy enough for everyone in your party to have a poncho each day, you could have bought a disney one. Some days we had to use our ponchos more than once. The ponchos at Disney are $7 for adults and $5 for kids. These can be used over again due to the fact they are made of much more durable material. Mine I bought in 2005 and just packed them again for this year and used them all week. I wanted to share a trick that works well if you decide to do this poncho so you can use them over and over each day. When you get back to the room, no matter how wrinkled or crunched up your poncho is, lay it out on the floor and use the hairdryer in your room and go over the entire poncho. You will see this will soften the plastic and you can fold it again, down to nothing. It only takes a few minutes for each one. As you use the hair dyrer continue doing this while you fold it each time. I then took a large gallon size ziploc bag and put all 3 of our ponchos in that each day. I then took a straw and I vaccum sealed the bag. I had a nice small pouch each day to pack in my bag. I only use a fanny pak and I had more than enough room for sunscreen, glasses, camera, phone, lip stuff and our ponchos. You will be able to get your ponchos down to really small size. I brought our ponchos home and will use them on our next trip. They still look brand new. Hope this is helpful for someone!

Thanks for sharing.
You should post this also on our Tips board, and Theme Park Strategy Board. What a great idea.

How did the rest of your vacation to WDW go? Hope to hear from you.

Our trip was great, thanks to TGM! The crowds were huge by 12 everyday. Was so glad I got touring plans from TGM which enabled us to do everything we wanted to early. Getting to the parks by opening was key in getting to do all the popluar attractions without the wait. Fastpasses were gone by 1-2 each day for many attractions. We were usually out of the parks by 203 each day and had an afternoon of rest and swimming before doing nighttime activities. Stayed at CS and it was absolutely beautiful!

I did TGM too in April. We only ran into 1 day, where the touring plans didn't work, but 7 out of 8 days, is still a pretty good.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info - coming from CA, we weren't really sure what to make of the need for ponchos.

You mentioned they are thicker - can I fit 2 adults and 2 kids ponchos folded up in a backback, or do I need to find some other way to cart these things around the parks?

Many thanks in advance,

DBinMV
