Rain/ponchos question

We've been so lucky on our previous trips that we've never had a rainy day. I noticed the Accuweather forecast is showing "showers" for our first day at the parks next week. I know everyone recommends ponchos, but what do you do with them when you go inside attractions (i.e. Philharmagic)? I mean, it doesn't seem right to sit on upholstered chairs with a wet poncho on, but do you take it off and just let it drip on you? I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I can't seem to figure it out!

After surviving the storms of August '03, we are experts on poncho usage!! We wore them into the line for the attraction. While in line, we took them off, folding them so that the water was on the inside and not dripping all over the place. I just tucked mine over my fanny pack strap. When the show was over, we stepped aside from the exiting hordes and put the ponchos back on. A bit of a pain but you get used to it.

I know about the Accuweather forecast, I have become obsessed!!!! I also check the weather channel and Intellicast.
And, did you notice that Accuweather changes almost hourly?
Having said that, in the event of rain, you generally wear them into the attraction and drip (sounds awful, doesn't it?).

Hey, Gail, you're right about accuweather changing the forecast hourly! LOL! I think earlier, it had rain listed for most days and now, just "showers" on Friday! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I always bring a bunch of the disposable ponchos. Dollar stores usually have them, but I can usually find them even cheaper at discount chains in the camping/outdoor dept. If the weather forecast is for a really rainy day, DH and I will bring several with us and tuck them into our waist pouch. Otherwise we just bring one per day for the shower that might pop up. If we're going into an attraction that doesn't require us to sit down, then we just drip off as much as possible outside near the entrance, and leave them on. If it's a sit down situation, we take them off and throw them away and use another one, if needed, when we leave. There is nothing worse than hauling around wet ponchos.

We will also be there next week, and I have been watching the weather on all the different sites...LOL it is kinda like being obsessed!

Do any of you have kids in strollers? we will be do those rain ponchos fit over a stroller?

LOL, I have an EXCEL spreadsheet with three different weather services. I take a reading in the morning and in the evening and chart the temps and conditions. It is a thing of beauty!!! LOL

I don't have kids in strollers, but, the ponchos do fit.

Going in the summer months, we learned quickly what to do with ponchos. Make sure you have at least one plastic bag to put the poncho in fo when it stops raining and you don't feel like carrying it anymore. Granted they do not dry that way, but you can put at least 2 in a gallon ziplock bag and not have to worry about getting everything else wet. They can always dry out in the closet or outside the hotel room later. Also, a permanent marker may be needed if you have kids and they don't want to wear the other's poncho. You can just put a letter inside to differentiate them.

I buy and keep several in my back pack-the dollar store thin variety. Often 2 in pack for $1. I dispose of them and not worry about it. Can buy several days supply this way for amount 1 would cost at park. A poncho is not what I want for a souv.
