Anyone know about what rain ponchos cost at WDW?
What about Wal-Mart? No Dollar Store nearby and didn't see at local Target.

In particular, interested in the ones that fold up into small size so you can carry entire family's in backpack (think they call them disposable but you can use throughout the week).

THANK YOU!!! :wizard:

Target has them in the camping section for around 1 dollar. The fold up very small. Our first trip we bought them, but of course forgot to pack them and wound up getting the WDW ones and they are around 5-7 dollars, but are cute and the kids like them because of the big Mickey on the back. ::MickeyMo

I think the child was $5. and adult was $7. They are now clear which is great. I much prefer Disney's that last for several trips then the cheap .99 cent ones from Walmart.

i bought the cheap ones from walmart.... went to put one on DS and the neck was ripped wide open...... .99 cents is real thin......

Ended up buying one onsite and it his a heavier gauge plastic and should lst several trips.

On our last trip, I bought two of the clear 99 cent ones from Walmart. It started raining, so we took cover. Boy did I think I was smart to have packed them! :rotfl2:

Then I whipped them out of the package and saw how thin they were. The DH started laughing and told me he wasn't wearing plastic wrap! :umbrella:

We ended up throwing them away and just dodged the raindrops.

We bought some at the Coleman Outlet Store for 99 cents. They WERE pretty thin, but they weren't as hot as the thicker ones we had. They were handy for holding over our heads while we sat waiting for a parade in the rain (it was sunny when we sat down) or for putting over the bags on the back of DS's wheelchair. My 11yo also liked them better than the thicker ones for wearing. They were lighter and took up less room in our bag.

I prefer the cheap ones from Walmart- when I'm on vacation I don't feel like hanging ponchos up to dry, refolding them, packing them to take home and use again.

I'd rather throw on a cheap one and when the rain stops - just throw it in the trash can and keep on going. The less I have to carry around, the better.

Yep, the Disney ones are more expensive, but we have used them over and over through the years. I also heard that if they tear or get ripped for any reason, you can get it replaced for.....get ready....FREE!!! Anyone actually done this? :mickeybar

Generally not a poncho person, but having a Mickey on the back helped a whole lot! We all looked cute in our Yellow Mickey Ponchos (Disney changes the color from time to time) Plus, I'm pretty sure that if you ever have a problem with them, Disney will replace them, even if they are older. :earseek: One thing I strongly suggest bringing from home is a waterproof stroller cover. We got to our last night without using it, and I was starting to think I had wasted the money, but on our last night MGM had a huge thunder storm. Of course you have to leave the strollers outside while you go on the rides, so even though the CM's tried to keep them covered, most got soaked. Mine was still dry inside. WEll worth the $5 I paid at the baby store. Stroller covers come in several sizes, so be certain to get the correct style.

The ones that fold up tiny are the disposables, and yes they are VERY thin. I buy several for each of us. I carry one in my waistpouch, and DH puts one in his back pocket. If we need them, we just throw them out when the rain stops. I'm not about to cart around a dripping wet poncho. I've found these in Walmart, K-Mart and most sporting good stores and lots of discount stores carry these too. If a store has a sporting section, look there first.

I know you said no Dollar store nearby, however they are 2 for $.99 at our Dollar Store. For that price I would mail you some if you would like.

the Target I work at has rain ponchos near the ladies handbags, also some of the stores have a movable display with umbrellas and ponchos they'll keep it towards the back of the store until it rains then it's right at the door. :)

Thanks, everyone, for all the feedback. Here's some pixie dust! :wizard:

And disluvr71 - That is so nice of you!!! At a buck a poncho, I'll probably pick them up at Wal-Mart (or Target), but just wanted to let you know that your offer was appreciated!! :wizard:
