Rain ponchos....croc type shoes

Okay so checked the weather, 6th and 7th thunderstorms are predicted, but not worrying too much about them. I do want to know what rain poncho is preferred. I just bought a handful of those ponchos from walmart, 87 cents each, and be able to toss it after we use it, instead of shoving in a bag to carry around again..need another pull out a new one..i know it's a waste...(maybe WDW has recycling cans as we do here) I just don't want to spend anymore money on supplies for this trip...geez..need to take out a second for a trip to WDW..LOL

It sounds like on another board that the emergency types don't hold up to Florida rain?? What other types of shoes are good for a second pair of shoes for the rain times? Fine with purchasing some immitation crocs at payless for us, 20 and 12 want to just wear their flip flops during the rain, but think they get a little slippery on the walkways, 6 and 4 have some cool sandal shoes that will work great in rain, with traction...

again more opinions please..can you tell i'm a little anxious for this trip? Don't want to miss anything!

We have used dollar store rain ponchos at WDW and never had an issue with them not holding up to the rain. Sandals and flip flops sound fine to me for the rain, personally, when my crocs get wet (I slip them off when I get out of the shower) and they are squishy and slippery.

When you don't know if you're going to get caught in the rain or not, the inexpensive ponchos are perfect because they don't take up much room and you can toss them when you're done. I've even reused them occassionally - like when we wore them back to the resort, I could hang them to fully dry and then fold them back up pretty small - but imo throwing them out after one use is no biggy. WDW does not have recycling bins for these. Even the regular pop bottle and can recycling bins are infrequent IMO. With as much garbage as they process though - I'd bet they have some system for sorting it out.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by "emergency types"... Were you referring to shoes or the ponchos? (i'm laughing at myself here because I feel like I should be able to figure this out, lol).

Well we did get caught in a big rainstorm at Epcot on our last full day there. I was glad that we had the emergency ponchos with us because we would have gotten totally soaked in five minutes. They don't work great if you're going to be walking in the rain for a long time but they would be fine from one attraction to another, since most are indoors. We actually decided to leave the park since it was late afternoon, we needed to pack and be ready to leave the next day anyway, and it didn't look like it was letting up any time soon (we also go to WDW a couple of times a year so we don't feel like we're missing anything by leaving early one day). Anyway, we walked from the Living Seas all the way to the International Gateway and then to the Boardwalk where we were staying (just missed the boat, darn it!) and we were mostly dry but the bottoms of my capris and my shoes were soaked. My hair was a little wet too. But that was better than being totally drenched!
