RAIN! :( Looking for advice

Please be careful wearing flip flops to the park when it's raining, they can be very slippery and I would not want to see anyone fall and get hurt.

They don't run, and they aren't slick on the bottom, they've got some grip but thanks :)

I still wouldn't wear them. DLR is not set up for the 4-6 days of rain that fall each year. The surfaces are very slippery, especially in outdoor queues and in Adventureland and NOS. Having grip won't help you at all on those surfaces.

I have a friend who is a meteorologist and she always stresses to not look at extended forecasts. Weather a week from now has not even been created yet. It's just a guess.

We went to DLR about 25 years ago on a very rainy day and had a blast. No one was there, and we walked on rides. Obviously much has changed in 25 years, but as someone who DOES love football (and baseball) games in the rain and doesn't mind getting wet that much, I'll take being wet and being in the park over being dry and at home in front of my TV :)

Rainy Disneyland is the best. There is more than enough inside rides to get you through any rain storm. That being said, I live in California. Our rain would make any other state laugh. If it does rain, which it more than likely wont, it'll be over in 30 minutes tops.

We actually didn't mind the rain days we had a couple of trips ago. We bought some ponchos and also did indoor items - Captain EO was one....is that still there?, Great Moments with Lincoln and the one area on main street that is sort of like a museum type thing with models of the park and such in it (can't remember the name). We actually really enjoyed it! We are always in such a hurry to go, go, go when we are there that we rarely take time just to soak it all in (no pun intended :rotfl: ). By the afternoon it was sunny and quite warm, so all in all we didn't mind the couple of days that this happened. Forced us to enjoy the "slower" aspects of the park! pixiedust:

Last time I was in Florida everyday we went to Epcot it rained but I thought it was great, besides the fact that the storytellers wouldn't come out, the park was so quiet because everyone ran away from the rain!

We are there next week too. I booked the holiday your for Monday...and I just might lose my mind if it rains!! We took the tour last year and it poured the entire time, which cancelled the parade. Fingers crossed for dry weather!

Our tour is on Tuesday. I am freaking out about the rain. Dh is trying to tell me to stay calm and that the weather report is most likely to change again. Fingers crossed for sunshine all day Monday and Tuesday!

Another good tip I've heard is to bring a Shammy to wipe up wet seats before you sit on them.

We leave a week from tomorrow, on the 19th, and I just checked Accuweather. The days that were showing rain last night no longer do! I will continue to stalk the weather page, but I wouldn't stress too much since it is ever changing.

It did rain on us one morning last year, but we still did ok, It's a great time to do some indoor stuff, as others have said.

We have only experience a rain day once, it was a learning experience for sure. I think it was last year Oct.

We bought the Disney parks rain poncho's and the plastic smell was so bad, I could barely wear it. So I sucked it up, and used mine to cover our stroller. That was the most important thing to keep dry anyhow. They were expensive, I think it was something like $28 for 2 adults and 1 child.

So if you can, bring your own rain gear. Try to get one that your backpack or whatever can also fit under.

Our sneakers got drenched and the took forever to dry. That was the worst part. So bring alternative shoes if you can.

It was neat though, to see all the people in their Disney parks yellow rain coats. It was actually a cool sight, I'll have to go find some pictures and post. But, I always heard, the park gets pretty empty when it rains. But it never did, it was crowded. I don't think we went over to DCA, just stayed at DL, and honestly I can't remember a ride being closed down, but I could be wrong and not remembering correctly.

Have fun, just try not to let the rain damper your spirits and take it all in stride. Be prepared as best as you can, and roll with it. Even with rain, I'd rather be in Disneyland then home anyday :) haha

The above is excellent advice! I can't emphasize it enough: Buy the cheapest ponchos you can find (usually 99 cents at the discount stores) before the trip and bring them with you. Also, on rainy days, carry an extra pair of socks for each person in your group. A tip in the Unofficial Guide recommends that you scotchgard your shoes. (Haven't tried that, so can't say one way or the other if it is helpful.) Generally, rain drives people out of the parks, but there's no guarantee of that. (We were there during a downpour one winter, and the place stayed PACKED!) Stick to indoor rides, or meals when it's raining heavily. The outdoor attractions HAVE to be closed, because water pools in the Dumbos, the tea cups, etc. and nobody wants to sit down in a puddle.

Have a good time!

we bought nice poncho's at 1$ store and they are thick too we got them a few weeks ago just in case.

Where are you seeing 20% chance of rain? I just see morning clouds on the site I use (and I live near DL).
