We tried the AK one years ago.....we were tired from being at AK all day, it was packed, loud and I just remember it being JUST OKAY. Do they have the same menus? Do you all prefer one over the other?? Thanks.

They have the same menus. I think the one at DD is just bigger. We did the one at Ak a couple of years ago and it was a nice break from HOT AK. We are trying the DD this time because the girls want to go "in the volcano."

Love it there for breakfast at AK.

neither. Service is bad at both and the food isn't much better.

When I made my ADR's I did not know there was more than one. Do you think I should call them back and make sure I have ressies at the one at AK.

Thank You
Sarah

The AK location is usually less crowded.
Menus are the same.
Compared to other WDW dining options, RFC is above average in both variety and quality. (Except for the pizza, which is a pre-fab crust thing).

For lunch, we prefer AK. Cool, and less crowded. Haven't been at AK for dinner comparison yet.

I agree that the service isn't stellar and the food isn't the greatest but my son enjoys the atmosphere. We have a RFC in Alexandria, VA and Towson, MD (both close to DC where my husband works) and we eat there 3 or 4 times a year. In my experience, they're all the same: poor service and mediocre food.

Funny someone should say they thought the one at DTD was bigger. I thought the one at AK was larger. Either way, the menus are the same and I can't say I prefer one or the other. I like them both. I like DTD for the memories because I've been eating there every trip since I was 9 years old. Basically, I've spent many trips eating at that location. But, in November '06 we tried out the one outside of AK and I like it because it feels bigger to me and it is more convenient if you're coming right out of the park. I say you can't go wrong with either RFC.
:goodvibes

RFC is a must-do every trip for us. The kids just love it! We have only eaten at the AK location, so I can't comment on that. We have had excellent service there every time we have gone, though.

My family and I always go two times to the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney and everytime the service has been 100% amaizing, so we have never had any problems there.

Glad to hear that then. I was thinking of trying it.....since we are staying at SSR. We did try the one at AK and thought it was JUST OKAY...but that was years ago and we were tired from the park day too. I am willing to try again. :goodvibes

Happy I was able to help. :thumbsup2

We've done both over the years and enjoy them. DTD is hugely busy so a ADR is a MUST; AK is less busy but smaller. the closest one to us when we're "home" is 3 hours away, so we like to experience it whenever we go to WDW. Come June "07 we'll be dining at the AK RFC. We love the gift shop (always get something with RFC-Orlando on it):thumbsup2 and we think the food is fine. See you in a couple weeks :woohoo:

Just so you know, you can't make an ADR through Disney Dining for the one in DTD...you have to call the restaurant directly.

That is not always true. Whenever my family and I have dinner there we like to eat around 4:00 or 4:30 PM because we will never have to wait for our name to be called and it's like that everytime. Once we arrive and tell them our name, then they say go right into the Gorilla or Elephant line and we are seated within a few minutes.

Now if your planning on eating there after 7:00 PM then it's a good idea to make an ADR, because then the wait could be a long time. So depending on what time you wish to eat there at, ADR's might not be needed or they might be needed. So call it a 50/50 shot.
