Rain at Disney

Hi All- We will be in Disney next week and it looks like there is a chance of rain. I am assuming that we wouldn't want to leave the park for a passing shower so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Poncho? Change of shoes? Should we try to jump into a show? I will have 2 kids and a baby. Thanks!
Hey- we have the "same" Dis name and we are going to be at the parks at the same time! ;)

For my trip in February, I brought a good quality poncho, and was so glad I did! I bought a "Frogg Toggs" brand poncho at Walmart. It was about $12. It said it was "breathable", and I found it was very comfortable to wear. It was long enough to cover my body (some ponchos are very short!). What I loved about it was that it wasn't "clingy"; some of the cheaper ponchos tend to stick to your legs when wet, and you end up having to peel them away from your legs with every step you take. This one didn't do that! And it compacted down into its own carrying bag, which fit easily into my backpack.

I used to use the cheap "emergency" ponchos from Target, and they're good in a pinch. But they tend to cling when wet, aren't very long (don't cover your torso well, especially if it's windy), and aren't very sturdy.

Definitely poncho's!

We usually don't bring them with us, and honestly, I usually don't check the forecast :rotfl2: It's florida, it's bound to rain! If it's going to rain a ton that day, I'll opt for sandals or something that will dry quicker (but be careful for blisters can happen much easier this way) no one likes walking around in soggy sneakers for 3 days afterwards!

I'd say when the rain hits, hop into a store, an indoor queue/ride or a show for 15 minutes or so, and then throw on the poncho and brave the rain that's left, most people will be gone from the park by then anyways.

We dealt with this tonight. After 2 hours of virtually constant torrential rain (. Ie. there was a bit of flooded areas) we gave up and came back to the hotel. (It was also bedtime). When things looked threatening, we hopped into the carrousel of progress then rode the people over 4 times. At a break, we went to haunted mansion. Basically- ponchos, Tevas, and a good stroller cover (perhaps 2). Radar app on phone is also helpful. A good attitude also helps. Oh and last week they said sunny all day, high of 80. It has been 94 and stormed last night, tonight, and supposed to now tomorrow and Friday. Plan for anything.

Was also at MK today and mostly just took it in stride. A good attitude is definitely a must as you can't do much about the weather. We wore ponchos and did whatever was open. Luckily we also had a dinner ADR that got us out of the rain. I just rearranged all of my FP+ for tomorrow so that we do the outside rides when in the morning (supposed to not rain in the am) and inside rides in the pm when it might rain. So some flexibility helps too. Luckily there is still plenty to do even while it's raining.

Same boat. Weather looked great 4 days ago, now looking like a lot of rain for this trip. Got a ton done this morning at AK for EMH and then hitting Epcot for lunch but the late afternoon/evening washed out.

If you go back to the park around 8, it's been beautiful the last two nights and low crowds. wishes wasn't until 10 tonight so that gave plenty of time for a few rides. Space Mountain had a 10 minute waiting time at 9 pm.

We are flying down tomorrow night, and we have all our FP+ early AM at AK, I'm already planning on wearing flip flops on Saturday because last time we got poured on, my sneakers had to be dried off in the dryer at the resort, and that took QUITE some time . . .:lmao:

We are most likely going to play it be ear, I mean if we get up and it's down pouring I'm sure we aren't going to attempt to go to AK, we'll just have to revamp our plans.

Thankfully after Saturday the rest of the trip looks good!pixiedust:
