It's pouring here, and I just need to share that I hate the sound of rain.

I know there are many people who love it, but I'm curious what the balance is between those who love it and those who hate it.

... and I'm not talking about an intellectual reaction (I know we need it for the plants to grow!) or the inconvenience it causes to errands, etc. - I want to know what you instinctively feel in your body due to the sound of rain on the roof/windows/etc.

I love it at night, when I go to bed - the sound is very relaxing for me.

I severely dislike it during the day - especially when I have to be out in it.

Since I’m aware of it more when I’m awake, then when I’m asleep, I voted that I dislike it.

I love the sound of rain at night. I find it relaxing. It’s pouring here today and I’m off from work. I’m excited I have to run errands and it will make everything less crowded. Plus it’s not snow!

Rain can be relaxing to me as well when I'm cozy inside. I'm no longer allowed fan of being out or especially driving in it though.

Neutral. But definitely negative about the grey skies that come with it. A dark, rainy day is a definite downer. I’m also really hoping for no rain during our upcoming trip to London, but that’s probably unrealistic.

When it pounds the tin roof it indicates that I can dance in the flash flood basin...that today and tomorrow my spiritual nature is enhanced, that a new experience is awaiting so different than the other 364. I used to love it, until going through several hurricanes. Now I can’t stand it. I put earplugs in if I know rain is coming. If I have to hear it I will be pacing the floor until it stops.

So, I love plain old rain. I find the sound to be soothing and it's part of my nature mix for my sleep sounds. That being said, it's rarely just rain here. So, rain often comes with stressful things like flooding, high winds, hail, tornado warnings, etc. So, rain in my current area is often more stress than relaxing.

The sound of rain doesn't bother me as much as rain itself. I dislike the sound purely because I find it quite irritating when I can hear it over other things. Especially at night time when I'm trying to sleep as I like quiet.

Rain itself I actively hate with a huge passion. Rain ruins my walks outside and also ruins my hair if it gets wet, so not a fan!

I put "neutral" because it depends on the season. 37 and rainy in winter: brutal. 90 and rain shower in summer: lovely.

same here (and we had guests of 68 mph last week ). rain falling is relaxing/wind blowing is unnerving.

I don't mind the sound of rain. It's basically "white noise".

BTW, it's going to be 92 degrees here today. In fact, all week it's over 90.
