Raglan Road

We ate here when we were in Orlando a couple weeks ago. One of the worst meals of our trip. We went because we'd read good reviews but were very disappointed.

The food ranged from good to terrible. The drunken chicken skewers were nothing special flavorwise but at least not dried out. The smoked salmon appetizer was the highlight of the evening. Nothign to complain about here and I wish I'd just had this and a Harp and called it good for the evening.

The maple glazed salmon is wrapped in smoked salmon. THis made it REALLY REALLY salty. Horribly so(had to have been overseasoned on top of the cured protein cooked iwth the dish). Plus it was way overcooked. Terrible terrible. Way to ruin a perfectly lovely piece of fish.

The Pork loin dish( it's got some cutesy name I don't remember...it's stuffed with some kind of sausage) coudl ahve been good but again overcooked way past its prime. Dry and tasteless. The leek and mashed potato puree underneath was could have been good but again TOO MUCH SALT.

Portions are ridiculously large.

Service....horrible. SLOW SLOW SLOW. We eat out a lot and have both worked in the industry in front and back of house. We're usually pretty easy going about service issues but this was just ridiculous.

Maybe it was an off evening but we left very unimpressed and regretting our choice for the evening.

This was our experience also, in addition to it being horribly horribly loud and wild. Normally loud and wild doesn't bother us but it was really excessive that day and honestly there were some parents that should have been put in time out for letting their children run wild around the restaurant hitting others with balloons and being totally obnoxious. We love kids and normally have lots of patience with kids, but this experience was pretty horrible. The lack of good food and service made the entire meal irritating.

We had lunch there in August. It was a nice and quiet meal at lunchtime, and the food was pretty good. For us, it was a perfect a/c break at noon and it wasn't crowded at all. In fact, we didn't have an ADR and we walked right on in and were seated at opening. I'm sure it's a whole different atmosphere at night when the bands are playing, but for lunchtime when we were there it was a quiet and relaxing place to regroup after shopping for a couple of hours.

My two cents: We ate at RR last month, and it was the worst meal of our whole trip. We ordered fish and chips (which we thought were a pretty safe bet). They were barely lukewarm, soggy, and the breading on the fish wasn't cooked completely through. Plus, it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other talk without totally shouting (and we were over by the door, in the bar area). We'll never go back there again.

It's interesting to read other people's experiences - for every bad review of RR, there's a good one!
