Raglan Road

DW and I have ADR for Raglan Road on our anniversary. We have never neem there before, so we decided to give it a try. Any recommendations or non recommendations on the menu? Pros and cons of the restaurant?

We absolutely love Raglan Road-for the food, the service and the atmopshere! If you have an early dinner ADR, it is a wonderfully relaxing place to be. A later ADR will let you enjoy the live entertainment that starts around 9 pm-a great place to be at that time, too!
For appys, we just loved the Goats Town appy! The Dalkey Duo (for two) and the seared scallops were quite good! For entrees, I loved the Seriously Sirloin and my DH said Paddy's Pork was one of the best dishes he has ever had. I would stay away from the Shepard's Pie-even though it is made with lamb and prime rib, it was blah and very dry. For dessert? Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding, hands down! Enjoy!!

Love love Raglan Road, service, atmosphere, everything. have to second lynninpa with her menu choices, had paddys pork the first time and thought it was phenomenol, my friend had shepherds pie and was very dissapointed, as over here in the uk we make the minced beef part in the gravy, not pour it over afterwards. They also have the best mashed potatoes on property have also had the heavenly ham and it really was that. sadly i never have room for dessert, but did have a chocolate martini that was wonderful. here are some piccies for you:

Colpucinno soup, friend polished this off in record time, claims it is the best soup she ever had

paddys Pork, really really good, the veggies are hidden between the meat and potato, wonderful sauce,really good choice.

Hope i'v helped. Oh yeah, ask to have a table in the centre as a few are in remote corners and you won't get to enjoy the entertainment from there,

When I was there in 2005 (and at Rose and Crown) my boyfriend was very excited cause he thought he was going to get fish and chips like either his mom makes or he had the last time he visited his grandparents in England (12 years ago). He was VERY disappointed. His biggest pet peeve with them (and maybe someone from England can help me out here) is that people serve french fries and pass them off as regular fish and chips. He can't stand that. I thought it was good however.

(For the record, we even tried making our own fish and chips. All we got was a stinky kitchen and not that great a meal. I told him it's up to his mom to make them the next time we see her.

yep, if its proper fish and chips then they are chunky fat chips, not french fries, and not too crispy either, more soft and fluffy.

We ate at Raglan Road in July and it was the best!! We had an earlier ADR and it was relaxing. We loved the food and the atmosphere. I had Sod..the Stew it was soo good and my DBF had Bangers and Mash and he thought it was good, but his favorite part was the bread pudding..it was AMAZING!

DH and I ate at Raglan Road last year and thought the food was just OK but the music and atmosphere was outstanding! It's a fun, festive place and I think you will really enjoy your anniversary dinner there.

My dh absolutely loved the seared scallops appetizer, my dd devoured the Italian Irish, Capiche? appetizer (mac 'n' cheese) and I could have eaten my weight in that bread and butter pudding. I'm going to have to go look up that recipe--thanks Lynn!

We ate there for our anniversary last year and they gave us the "dancing table" Whoa..fun! That made the trip worthwhile, but I ordered the shepards pie and I was thinking it was "OK". DH had bangers and mash and he said it was "OK" as well.
Next trip we are passing on Raglan Road.

DW and I ate there in July. I had the Heavenly Ham - I don't normally order ham out, but for some reason I thought to give it a try - and it was, well, "heavenly".

DW had the Fish and Chips. We didn't care so much about the style of chips, but we both agreed that the fish was very bland.

We had had the Drunk Chicken for an appy, which was good.

I of course had to try the B&B Pudding, and the only thing I wish is that I had enough room to eat it all...

I hope to at least stop there in December without ADRs, especially if we're still staying at SSR.

One more suggestion for RR. Our server was more than happy to let me trade in the mashed potatoes that came with my entree for their Colcannon which is a buttery blend of mashed potatoes, sauteed onions, cabbage & bacon. Yumm. Yumm. YUMM!

But take heart - obviously lots of people like RR (see the posts above) so we probably just got there on a bad night.

Well, if you split one dish, then you increase the likelyhood that you'll both dislike that meal if it turns out not so good...

Although the F&C is probably the easiest thing to split.

That would have been me, the part of England I'm from chips were much soggier than FF . Still delish, but I love FF as well. But my all time fav was the Crispies!!

It's been so long since I've been over there, I don't remember what they were like...but I do keep a bottle of malt vinegar around for the occasional craving...
