how is it? Thinking of lunch on arrival day in Aug w/DS15

We enjoy it, but it's not open for lunch. The dining brochure says that it is, but my in-laws schlepped out to DTD one day for lunch, only to find that it was closed. They said that was a misprint, though obviously an inconvenient one for guests!

Their summer hours may be different, though; I don't know about that. You might want to call & verify.

When the entertainers are going, it gets quite loud, which you may like or which may bother you. We prefer quiet so we get seated in the side room.

The food is nice; creative & interesting, and we especially enjoyed the Smokie City dish with smoked fish & cheeses & cream. Yum...

Cheers!

Hmmm, must have changed schedules. We did have lunch there twice last spring. Granted it was 2 or 3 o'clock, but it was lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Depends on when you arrive, Raglan Road opens at 3pm and would be a great choice for arrival lunch!

DH and I might have a kid free evening, and we love to try new foods, this place sounds great for us! I have a couple questions for you RR veterans:

I know reservations are suggested, but has anyone just walked in and asked for a table, or is that totally not going to work?

What is Colcannon??

What is the best time to go for dinner? We are going down 9/29 - 10/7.

Any tips you can give me on RR is greatly appreciated?
Thanks in advance!

Colcannon is a side dish and it is very good. It is a combination of potatoes and cabbage, I believe. The texture is that of mashed potatoes.
I can't answer your other questions.

What is Colcannon??

Colcannon is buttery mashed potatoes mixed with sauteed onions, cabbage & bacon (ham is sometimes used, too.) It is delish! My server at RR happily let me switch it for the regular mashed potatoes. :thumbsup2

We love RR! The food, the service and the atmosphere were all wonderful! :thumbsup2 Maybe lunch is seasonal although the business card we got when there says lunch is served 11 am to 3 pm. :confused3

This past June we had dinner at RR twice-an early dinner (5ish) and a late dinner (8:45 ADR) Both experiences were great yet quite different. The early dinner was very relaxing and laid back. For our late dinner, the entertainment started around 9ish and was a very fun, upbeat place to be! We enjoyed both dinners very much! :thumbsup2

From what I was told, RR was closed for lunch while some of the PI renovations were going on. Last December is wasn't available for lunch, but it was this past May.

Regardless, I would opt for a late lunch/early dinner there as their dinner menu has a lot more offerings.

Thanks so much for all the feedback, you guys are the best! :thumbsup2

RR sounds awesome, I hope we can get an ADR for at least one night!

We ate here on 9/2. Our 2 kids DD10 and DS13 were with us. We all liked it. My kids order off the adult menu. DD had the Heavenly ham. She did not even eat hakf of it after the drunken chicken app. DS had the salmon and enjoyed it all. I had the its not bleeedin chowder. I started with the goats cheese app. it was the best app I had all week at Disney. The cheese is formed into a patty like a hockey puck and deep fried. It is served on salad greens with a raspberry sauce- delicious! I loved the Baileys creme brulee dessert. DD had the bread pudding- another winner. We would go back- even w/out free dining. The family next to us had a small child and got the kids chicken tenders with fries. It came with 3 large tenders. it would feed even a big kid.

So excited to read all these positive posts and suggestions, was able to make ADR today for 10/1 for 8:30 for just DH and I. Can't wait, I went online to look at the menu and see what all of you have eaten and what I might want to eat!!

Thanks for all your help!

Here's what we had at Raglan Road. Can't wait to go back! :thumbsup2

Seared Scallops: Perfectly prepared with a wonderful sweet corn relish and candied lemon. Delish!
:goodvibes Goats Town: One of the most delicious dishes I have ever had! A wonderful goat cheese lightly seasoned & “fried” and served with grilled crostini, a raspberry compote and fresh raspberries. Simply perfect!
Dalkey Duo: It was served in a fun way-on top of forks sticking up from a wooden plate. Not only was it “fun,” it was also quite yummy and the mustard dipping sauce was perfect.

Serious Sirloin Steak: Grilled exactly the way I ordered it & glazed with a scrumptious Irish whiskey glaze and drizzled with a very light basil oil. Although it comes with “plain”mashed potatoes, the server happily let me replace them with colcannon, a delicious dish of mashed potatoes, sautéed onion s, cabbage and bacon. YUMM!
Shepard’s Pie: RR twist is to make this with prime rib and lamb. This was the only dish I was disappointed in. It simply had no flavor and so I just nibbled a bit.
Paddy’s Pork: My DH enjoyed this so much that he ordered it both nights! It was the most flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth tender pork we had ever had! The sausage stuffing and the honey soy glaze were both fantastic yet not overwhelming. Wonderful!!
Salmon of Knowledge: I agreed with my DS-the best salmon we have ever had! And my son knows his salmon! He got the maple glaze on the side yet ended up loving it!
Fish & Chips: Nothing “fancy” yet cooked perfectly and served with a wonderful fresh tartar sauce.

Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding: Oh, my! Heaven in a mug! In fact, it was sooo good that my DS and DH both ordered it again on our second night! The light warm custard and carmel sauces, served on the side for to die for. YUM!
Tiramisu Cheesecake: It was ok, a little dry yet then again I find most cheesecakes on the dry side.
Dessert Sampler: Served in little espresso cups, there was a white chocolate mousse, a dark chocolate mousse and a Bailey’s Coffe Cream Pot-“Tiramisu with an Irish Twist.” My DH and DS patiently waited for me while I devoured every last bite..
