went last week :thumbsup2 I liked it. my sons were a bit iffy in that they struggled to pick something which isn't like them ans I think they thought we are not picking shepherds pie in America :rotfl: we had a lovley meal although didn't like the bread that they gave you with the sugar guiness dip. yuk :rotfl:

place was empty when we went and we would definately go back :thumbsup2 from us

My absolute favorite place to meet up with friends and have a bite. I prefer the appetizers from the main menu, and like to order a few for variety and share. Drink the Guinness and talk!

I like the fish and chips from Cookes, but not the pie; too greasy.

Meeting up with some friends there of a Friday (soon!) for a pint or two. :thumbsup2

We met up with Simon and Susan Veness (and a reporter and photographer from the Orlando Sentinel) at Raglan Road back in January. (I know, I know; I'm a megastar :teeth: ). We had a meal in the ante-room (I think it's probably called the Raglan Room) which is right through the main bar area just before the outdoor seating area. It's like a 'snug' or lounge bar, I suppose.

It was very early and there wasn't much going on. it didn't matter to us at the time because we were engrossed in conversation. Matt and I also found ourselves at DTD a week or so later and ended up having a drink or two at the bar, but, again it was very early and there was hardly anyone about. From what Simon and Susan told us, I suspect the atmosphere later on makes it a very special place to be and we're looking forward to the DIS meet there in October. Simon also explained that the fittings are all authentic reclaimed pieces from Irish pubs (including the bars themselves which are antiques) and that made us more appreciative of the whole experience. If that hadn't been pointed out, it would undoubtedly have seemed very 'Disney' (i.e. meticulous attention to detail, but a tad homogeonised). Like many Disney restaurants, it's a cavernous space (from necessity, I guess) and I'm sure the whole mood improves the busier it gets.

I was a little disappointed with my shepherd's pie given that Kevin Dundon is a celebrated chef. It was a bit bland (did they forget the Worcester sauce?). Of course modesty prevents me from suggesting that my own is better :teeth: . Simon and Susan urged us to leave room for the bread and butter pudding and they weren't wrong!

I was very impressed with this place, first went there in the late afternoon, think it had only just opened as the place was empty, the steak was fantastic, as were the sausage and mash.
We then went back a few days later in the evening, wow what a difference the place was packed and there was an irish band playing, with a girl doing irish dancing on a wooden stage, to be honest I think it was a little too croweded to be eating at that time, but the atmosphere was great, I am def going back there in Oct.
