We are going to WDW the last week of August to take advantage of free dining (and hopefully lighter crowds than Christmas LOL). We are taking my mother along. She is willing to babysit and spend time alone... taking our DS (7) on some Grammy and Quinn adventures. My husband loves the Irish Pub atmosphere.

Should we take advantage of the break and do a date at Raglan Road? If so, at what time? Or, do you think it is something a 60+ grammy and 7-yr old would enjoy?

We were there last week and there were MANY children there who appeared to be enjoying themselves. My group consisted of me (45), my parents (65 and 72), and three "kids" (18, 17, and 14). This was our second favorite meal at Disney. The bread pudding is a "must have" even if you think you don't like bread pudding.

Our ADR was at 6:30, but it is better to go later so you can see the entertainment. They usually have some Irish dancers (cloggers) and a band. I think that all starts around 8:00. If you went there around 7:30, you'd probably get to see the entertainment as you are finishing up.

It's definitely kid friendly. Its up to you if you want to have a child free night or not.

I am not conservative, and I agree that Raglen Road has LOTS of kids that visit, but I won't take my neice to RR. It is a bar. There are three different bars and the tables are between them. I think its fine for other to take their kids but I would want someone to tell me that it is a bar before I decide whether to take my child or not.

It's pretty kid friendly up until a certain time of night and then it can get loud. Since you'll be having lots of really great kid time at Disney, why not take grandma up on her offer and have a night out with the husband? I would jump at the chance!

Kid friendly atmosphere. One of the better kids menus still left at WDW.

I agree about the kids menu - buts a pretty good one - especially for a non-signature restaurant

I would make it a date night, personally. It's a bar. Prior to 8pm, it's a family friendly restaurant but we've been later than that several times and it gets a little rowdy and very loud as the band/dancer gets going. It's very very loud, actually.

If your DH likes the Irish Pub atmosphere, he would LOVE to go for a later meal or just dessert and drinks without MIL and Kiddo.

That's one of the reasons we like it, honestly. It fills with locals and people traveling for business and the kiddos clear out in late evening and we can unwind with their FABULOUS bread pudding and a Guiness.
