Raglan Road Update

I don't want to eat there. I just want beer. I'm sure they'll have a bar to walk up to. :drinking1

What a great lineup...I think I'll be stopping here before going to PI and buying lots of diet Coke at the AC after I run over there for my entertainment. I wish they had decent beers.

Forgot to mention about ADRs, everyone seems to be asking about that more than anything.

RR will be part of the WDW dine priority reservation system. Guests will be able to call WDW-DINE and make a priority rez at RR. This means that although they may make a rez to dine at RR, they may still have to wait for the next available table. Their name will be put on the top of the waitlist at the time their rez was made for. The WDW-DINE centre will have specific info about the pub, menu, entertainment, etc.

If any of you plan on dining at RR any time soon, it should go without saying that it is highly encouraged that you make such a rez. It's gonna be slammed by tourists, CMs, and locals alike.

Jack, is the entertainment IN the dining area? or just the bars?
will there be reservations for dinner? or walk-ins?

even though I like 'all' Irish music, I am starting to prefer. the type by seven nations on to Black 47 ( what a coup it would be to have them!)
will the bands be listed somewhere that are playing?

Thanks for the details. Can you confirm the opening date and menu? :earsboy:

Wish I could. The menu...I'll list that when I have possession of it (maybe a week from now?). I know some of the items, but not all.

Opening date....I know some people have been told the 21st or 20th of October, but let me put it like this: Neither of the co-owners know when the opening date is, they've never known, neither does anyone else...so who knows? There is still talk amongst mgmt and owners that it will open within the first 10 days of October, there is talk about it opening the latter half of October. Simple thing is, no one knows despite what Disney info lines may say and despite what a hastily prepared press release states. Another thing to note, RR is not owned or operated by Disney. RR is in "partnership" (not used in a true legal context) with Disney, just like Planet Hollywood, Fulton's, Rainforest Cafe, etc. The RR employees all get Disney perks, but the ownership is solely between two people, Paul Nolan and John Cooke. There's obviously affiliation with Disney since it's on PI and Disney will do the WDW-DINE for RR because most people expect that. If the owners don't know when they open, surely Disney will be clueless too. If RR knew that they'd be opening at whatever particular date and time, then they'd be taking ADRs right now, but last I knew they're not...that's because they truly do not know what date they will open (why take ADRs when you don't know when you're opening?). Disney and RR have thrown out opening dates for over a year now (maybe more), and mostly that's just to appease people (however untrue). And, as we've seen, every single "appeasement" so far has turned out to be untrue. Why? Because they have no idea...plain and simple. Projections they have, a precise date, they don't. I'll post more as I know, and what I know is coming straight from the Irish horses' mouths (Paul and John).

There will be a typical place where the bands play, where that is exactly in the pub, I don't know yet. But, because it's a pub, you can eat anywhere. There isn't really a true dining room. There are different areas, bars, etc. within the building, but tables everywhere. Some tables will be better to sit at if you want to hear and see the bands than others of course.

ADRs...see my post above. But to quickly answer your questions...yes on both counts.

Yes, the bands and times will be listed. It may be listed somewhere within the pub itself and/or outside, using the Disney info line, and the RR web site (once the permanent one goes online). If you check out www.ninefineirishmen.com, the RR web site will most likely be very similar to that one since the ownership is the same. I know the RR web site will have a web cam too eventually.

Love the beer list so far, and looking forward to the food. Best of Luck to you and the grand opening! ;)

Will you have to have ADR to go there, or just to eat there?
In other words, if we just want to go late in the evening to hang out, have a beer and listen to the entertainment do we need an ADR or can you just walk in to the pub part and hang out?

we will be going in Jan. Do you know how far out you will be able to make ressies. Will it be 90 days, 120 days etc.?

You don't need an ADR for either. It's a pub, so walk-ins are welcome for anything. If you want to eat, I'd suggest a rez, but it's certainly not required.

As far as how far out can you make the rezs...this I don't know. Once RR opens, the WDW-DINE line will be able to tell ya.

I would LOVE to see Black 47 at RR. I have seen them a few times in NYC-have a pic with the lead singer.

The name RR is named after a well-known Irish poem written by a well-known Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh in 1946. The title of the poem was "Dark Haired Miriam Ran Away." It has since been known as "Raglan Road" for short. The Irish folk band "The Dubliners" first recorded the poem/song.

evidently disney gives me more" intellectual credit "that i deserve :rotfl:
never even heard of that poem

Hey Jack Splat maybe you can pass this on:)

Jack,

I'd like to put in a vote for Gaelic Storm - one of the best Irish pub bands I've ever had to pleasure to raise a glass to. They are headliners at our Dublin Irish Festival here in not-so-sunny Central Ohio, and they pack them in.

Slainte!

ok, off topic, kind of... don't you just HATE the posed advertising photos that companies use to promote their product?
I was so dissapointed looking at the ninefineirishman website at the "design photos of the pub".. SO obviously staged,, I mean, c'mon its the same people in all 3 photos, wearing different clothing! :confused3
plus I expected photos OF THE PUB! not faces of drinkers! (what a waste of space)

Jack,, pass on to the owners they should put REAL people,, "happy disney" :earboy2: people on their RR website. plus pictures of the actual bar, I certainly don't care about a face shot of someone,, that tells me nothing,,,, we already KNOW the place is going to be fun. grrr :pug:

I just worry, that there will never be a turn over! I mean some (including me) would want to plant themselves all night! I just wonder how any walk-ins will get seating??!!

I figure at least with dinner seating you get a table...... hopefully someplace where you can hear/see the band.

btw. raglanroad partially answered an email I sent them. full menu till midnight, otherwise bar menu for all 4 bars ( 2 inside 2 outside) from 3PM to 2am.

If we're requesting bands, I'd like to nominate Epcot's own awesome Off Kilter!

Thanks Don for all your help. We will be there in February and I'm dumping the Fish as our last night dinner and going here instead. I loved Ireland when I went (friendliest people on Planet Earth, Jamacia is now Number 2) and can't wait to check this out.
