Raglan Road reviews please

When Raglan Road first opened there were many reviews. If you do a search I'm sure you will find them. I've been there twice, once when it first opened and again this past January. My first visit last October was not that good of an experience. The food was good and very enjoyable but they did not have their act togethe as to service, entertainment and staff knowledge. My second visit this past January was very enjoyable. We arrived in time for dinner and then the entertainment. The Maitre d' warms the house up around 8- 8:30 and the band starts at 9. About every 3rd song an Irish Step Dancer comes out and dances on a special Stage / table.
The food is pub food and the appetizers were very good. Their version of Corned beef and cabbage is made with bacon (actually more like a larger verson of canadian bacon). It is quite tasty. I'm going back this May and I plan to go here again. Try it, you'll like it.
Initally it did not take the DDE card, but in January it did.

We enjoyed our visit there in October - we went late for the entertainment. 9pmish. The atmosphere quickly became the place to be for adults and conventioners =)

Our waitress was great; it's very very loud in there but she pulled up a seat and really helped us make our decisions. We enjoyed our choices but felt they were very expensive. It was a pricey night out, for sure.

We decided then that we would just come for drinks/dessert in the future but with free dining, we'll have a meal there again.

It's a beautiful restaurant with great entertainment. We enjoyed being someplace that really was just adults - love kids but sometimes it's nice for a break while at WDW =)

I do love a night out without the kids, but I had been thinking I would bring my kids here for dinner because my daughter has been taking Irish Step dancing for 3 years and we all love Irish music and play it at home a lot. Are there ever kids in the restaurant? I don't want to bring them if it's not appropriate, DD is 8 and DS is 7.

Yes, there are children in the restaurant, they have a wonderful kids menu. Just keep in mind, the entertainment does not start until 9pm. The restaurant itself does not open until 3pm.

We have been 5 times now and it has been fantastic every time. We absolutely love it. The food is fantastic, great service, wonderful atmosphere. It gets very busy in the evenings so make a reservation.

Altho we've only eaten at Raglan Road once, it's vaulted to the top of our dance card. Our family of four ate well: we started out with the Dalkey duo, little crusted sausages with a mustard dipping sauce ... the presentation was way cool, with forks stuck handle end down in a board with the tines holding the sausages. Great start! DS and I had Kevin's Kudos, which was oven-roasted bacon loin with a little cabbage and mashed potatos. The bacon was like Canadian bacon, sliced and fanned out, and it was hearty and rib-sticking. DD had mussels, which she claimed were "the best ever" (I think she's eaten mussels twice, so don't think of her as a gourmand), and DW had shepherd's pie. She liked it fine, but it's still shepherd's pie. It was a huge portion.

The clincher for us was dessert. DS and I got the bread and butter. I love bread pudding ... this came in a crock, with two little pitchers of sauce - vanilla and butterscotch. We were instructed to dig a hole in the pudding, which was almost like a souffle, and pour the sauce of our choice (or both) into that cavity and stir it together. Folks, I will tell you ... I don't think I've ever enjoyed a dessert more. DD and DW shared something ... I don't remember what it was, but whatever it was was reduced to irrelevance after the bread pudding.

AND - the entertainment is appropriate for anyone, at least the night we were there. But it is loud and raucous.

It gets my unqualified recommendation.

Can anyone give specifics on the beer selection?

They have all the regulars plus guinness, harp, smithwicks and quite a few more. We also enjoy a taste of Irish Mist after our meal!

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't "get" Raglan Road.

I'll admit we seem to be in the minority from all the other reviews here, and we are going to give it another try next week. But, we've been there and didn't find the food to be as good as what we could get at R&C in Epcot. However, one of our party did get a burger that was very good.

I'll be adding a review to my trip report over the weekend. We dined there on 4/16 - Easter. :)

Your not the only one. I was VERY EXCITED that Raglan Road was coming to the DTD area. I have been to pubs...oh..one or two times in my life... (being from South Boston and all)! So I was so looking forward to having that down in Disney...plus I am some what of a beer snob and before to find the beer that I wanted (or at least close to it) I had to go all the way to Epcot to the Rose and Crown. Anyway, I digress.

When we got there I was very impressed with the look and feel of it. I felt like I was back home in one of the nicer pubs. I heard that there was going to be step dancers but I see them all the time and wasnt going to wait 2 hours BUT its nice to know that they are there and it adds to the theme.

On to the food......WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT? :confused3 I really thought that I could count on this place to showcase Irelands tasteful food. Irish food has always been known as bland and lacking....well chefs in Ireland have been trying to change that for sometime and are doing a great job of that. I was just disappointed.

I know though that everyone has bad nights and they still were fairly newly opened at the point which we went. So I am going to give it another try in October!

I went with a large group 2 weeks ago. I had originally had plans for Ohanas that night but we were pooped and needed to nap through the ressie. I made a new ADR for RR and some friends joined us. There were 7 of us all together, three adults one teenager two kids ( 4 and 5) and a baby( 18 months).

I liked the appetizers more than the main course and the desserts were very good, The kids loved the music and dancing although it was too loud at some points for the kids especially the baby. My DD and DS tried to do the dances like the step dancer it was really cute. I would go back anytime but try and go when the entertainment is there.
