Raglan Road questions...

Still on the hunt for a restaurant to eat lunch at before we depart for home on a Friday....I've really been wanting to try Raglan Road, but I have a couple of questions.

1. Do you think reservations would even be necessary for showing up on a Friday during spring break in the early afternoon, say between 1-3pm? We will be doing a half day at Universal and I don't necessarily want to have to adhere to a reservation at Disney Springs if can be avoided.

2. Do they serve their dinner menu even at lunch time? The dinner menu has some items that intrigue me, but wasn't sure if they only serve those items after a certain time? Thanks

I had a reservation a few weeks ago at 5pm. We arrived in DS around 3 to go on the balloon ride and look in the shops. The balloon ride was closed due to weather/wind. Around 3:30pm it started POURING. We waited under cover for about 20 minutes then decided to see if we could get into RR early. We ran over and asked. They said they would try. The restaurant was practically empty, but they wouldnt seat us immediately. While waiting I asked what time dinner started, to make sure I wouldnt get the lunch menu for being there early. It was either 3 or 3:30...I was in the clear. Not sure if they would have made an exception. We were seated at 4:30 (arrived around 4), in a location where we couldnt even see the stage. Plenty of empty tables in the main area...almost like they did it on purpose for us showing up early!

The first thing our waiter said to us was there was a 2 hour time limit for the table. I wanted to say "Well, you better serve us quickly", but I bit my tongue. Even though the staff was a little ehhh..., the food was great and the bread pudding dessert was A+++.

Really? That’s the first thing the waiter thought they should tell you? Doesn’t sound very inviting or customer service oriented.
I also have Boathouse and Paddlefish in consideration too.

Yes, you'll need a reservation. They were packed all the time when we were there this past spring break. Reserve through open table and you don't have to worry about a fee if you're plans change last minute. We were off the stage on the right at tables next to the bar. Had a great time and everyone loved their food. I'd recommend if it fits your plans.

We’ve been to Raglan many times unfortunately not for lunch. But we have always made a reservation. And we specifically ask for the main room. It always takes a little longer to get s table but well worth it. They have tried to seat us in other areas and we just turn the table down and politely ask for a table we want. We have not been disappointed. We enjoy the food very much, I don’t know about lunch menu but there is a blue cheese salad that is entree size that is great.

I would check on the no penalty thing. Raglan Road might actually charge a fee if you don't show up for your Open Table reservation.

You could try a reservation with Open Table. Last I checked, no cancellation fee. Really enjoy RR. Haven't tried lunch but dinners very good. As a PP mentioned, Ger's Bread Pudding dessert is excellent.

There is no way for them to charge you. All they have is a name and a date/time for the reservation.

My experience eating at Disney Springs is that reservations are a good idea on weekends starting early evening on Friday; the area is quite popular with locals too, so the scheduling would be similar to your hometown. As another poster pointed out making a reservation via opentable will be easier and can be done same day.

No idea regarding differences between lunch and dinner menu. Perhaps you can call and ask.

@DisArmyWife215 - there are restaurants at opentable.com that charge cancellation fees but yes they require a c/c # be given when booking. Hopefully all will remember their manners at DS and not cause any eatery to institute a fee as DWD does.

My experience has been I never needed a cc to hold a table with opentable. I don't even have an account with them I just do it as a guest. Perhaps different locations require it, ie. larger cities. As for other restaurants idk, I was speaking specifically regarding RR which OP asked about. When I just booked with them in March there was no credit card needed.

Currently there are no eateries at Disney Springs that require a credit card at booking that I'm aware; sorry if I didn't make that clear. As you suspected there are restaurants listed on opentable in other parts of the country that do:).

I know they added it recently. Screenshots and my work computer don't play nice, so I copied/pasted the text.

"A note from the restaurant

That stinks! At least it's still better than Disney and you can change day of with no penalty as long as it's early enough.

It does stink but that's what happens when prospective guests don't live up to their part of the bargain by cancelling in a timely fashion. It is nice that the cancellation cutoff it more generous than the parks and resorts.

Definitely would recommend a reservation. We were there for spring break this year and RR was always packed. Especially so if your break is close to St. Patrick's Day.

The way I see it is exactly the opposite, that they require a 48 hour cancel policy.
Just tried to book Raglan Road for Dec 12 on Open Table and here's my message:

Raglan Road Irish Pub requests a credit card number to hold this reservation. Online modifications can be made until 5pm on Tue, Dec 10, 2019. ...So I went back and booked it on MDE.
Hope you all are having a magical day!

Took a look for the restaurants I've an interest in and so far neither Jaleo, Boathouse, WBG, or Morimoto have adopted this policy at least retroactively. I've already booked all my Christmas and New Year's Eve DS reservations thank goodness.

Thank you, @sponica! I'm not crazy! )

Anytime! I remembered a thread coming up where someone was surprised that RR required a credit card to hold the reservation. They must have really gotten burned by a lot of no shows/last minute cancellations as I've made reservations for far more expensive places that didn't require one.
