Raglan Road or Rose & Crown

We absolutely love Rose & Crown:thumbsup2 and it is one of our must do's almost every trip. If not for dinner, at least a drink:drinking1 on the patio. The view for Illuminations is spectacular.

Because we love a pub setting we tried Ragland Road but were so disappointed we have never gone back. I have to say the atmosphere is very nice, but the service and food was one of the worst  WDW experiences ever.

Just our thoughts... Rose & Crown is by far superior.

The quality of the food at Raglan Road far surpasses that of the food at Rose & Crown. We love the Smokie City, Chowder, Mushroom Soup, and Forest of Scallops at Raglan Road. Rose & Crown is more mediocre quality food, and they are more renowned for Illuminations views than for high quality cuisine. The sticky toffee at Rose & Crown disappoints, as does the cheese platter. I've never before had someone try to palm a BISCUIT off as "cheddar." Not a "cheddar biscuit," but actual cheddar.

Here are our reviews from our most recent Rose & Crown trip in January:

I would agree with the previous poster. Although not one of our "not to be missed", we do enjoy the Rose and Crown. We heard such a lot of hype about Raglan Road and were extremely disappointed in the food quality and taste. I had ordered the chicken pot pie offering and it had about 3 little chunks of chicken in it. For the price, not worth it. We are eating again at the Rose and Crown in October.

rose and crown has seen better days,i would go some where else..you donnt get much..food there..the fish and chips are the size of guppies..not kidding..never go there again..its a big rip off. but its disney ..

We ate at R&C last September (our only TS meal of the trip) and we were not impressed! There were four adults and TWO of our meals had to be sent back as the fish was not cooked properly. The chef came out to check the new meal was okay. I was disgusted and will not eat there again. Typically British, we were treated as though we were making an unfounded complaint. After that, I didn't even want a replacement I just wanted to leave without eating. I couldn't even eat my meal that was re-done as I felt ill. Then we were charged for the priviledge of being unable to eat our meal due to the incompetencies of the chef.

Don't flame me, but I think that if Disney wishes to produce good food they need to hire a British chef at R&C. The chef was obviously cooking fish by the batter and not realised that the thickness of the fish meant that the meal was cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. (And I've eaten a lot of fish and chips in my life, and never had a bad one in Britain).

Just my opinion (and yes, it may have been a rare occurance).

For those who went to Raglan Road did you have to pay to get into that part of Pleasure Island?

Thanks!!!

We have ADRs for both of these restaurants for our trip in August. We've done R&C before and like it very much. Looking forward to trying Raglan Road. When I made our ADR, the CM didn't say anything about needing an admission for PI and they are always really clear about that for the themepark restaurants -- to the point that it gets annoying to hear the same warning 8 times in a single call. I've walked by Raglan Road before, but that was during the day. Anyway, I do not believe PI admission is required.

You dont have to pay to get into Raglan Road. Also, you dont have to pay to get onto Pleasure Island, you really only need to pay if you want to go into one or more of the clubs there.

Hands down, Raglan Road!!! Yummmo:thumbsup2

Coco,
What is that in the first photo? It looks delicious.

It was the Crab Cake appetizer.

Hey,
Rose and Crown is okay. We ate there afew years ago. We had a lovely table on the patio and the view was very nice. I had the fish and chips and it was good. I remember that someone ordered a steak and it was a really tiny portion. We have never returned but only because we like to try new places.

In October we are going to try RR. We have an ADR for 8PM which is kind of late for us but that is when the entertainment starts. I'm very excited about trying it as the menu has unique some offerings.

Whatever you decide will be good. After all, it's just a meal. If I were you I would choose the one that fits easily into your schedule.

Have a great trip!!!!
