If I would like to have the best chance of sitting in an area with a good view of the Irish Step Dancers inside - what would be the best time to make an ADR?

If I book at 5:30 will that be too late since everyone who came for the dancers when they start at 5:00 would be at the beginning of their meals?

I've had reservations just before the dancing starts. They do have plenty of drinks and snacks to keep your party busy until showtime :)

The dancers perform throughout the evening (usually on the hour from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm), so you should have plenty of opportunity to see them. I would just make the request for a table in the main room when you check-in. It isn't like fireworks viewing where there is only one show per night and folks tend to remain at their table for hours. Whenever I've dined there, tables have turned over at a fairly normal rate, so I think you stand a good chance of getting a table regardless of when your reservation is (unless you pick a time really close to the last show).

I agree with Figment. While the dancing is gorgeous, most people don't stay longer than a normal, leisurely vacation dinner would last at another restaurant. I think the vacation pace gives most people ample time to enjoy the show, without having to stake out a table far in advance.

The dancing occurs on the two stages in the main dining room, so pretty much any table in the main dining room will have a good view. There is a side room where you won't be able to see much and few reset tables along the entry way that also won't have much of a view. There is really no way to know in advance which tables would be available, so I'd just make a reservation that works with your group (personally, I'd probably aim for half past the hour) and then tell the hostess/host that you'd like a table in the main dining room. That way, you have 30 minutes to be seated and can watch the dancing when it starts on the hour.

Time doesn't matter. Being lucky is what counts. We eat here every trip and have always been seated where we could see the dancers except once. Adr's have been between 6 and 8:30.

Just ate there last week. They did ask when we checked in if we would like a high top table if one came available first. We did say yes, however it was difficult to see the stage as we were in the bar area. I kept having to twist my neck in between the bar half wall, and column in the way, and poor DH couldn't see anything. Next time, I would say no to the high top table. We had a 5:30 reservation, didn't get there until 5:45, and there were people moving in and out of the restaurant frequently.
