No, what ruined your evening was your response. The ONLY thing in life you can control is YOU....

Well Said!

Here's a violin to play the worlds saddest song for you :charac2: Boo Hoo... I'm sorry but get over yourself.

You should have said something to the guy like "you gonna need that for a while" or "sure, you can use that chair." Probably would have made him notice you. He might have even apologized. I'm sure he didn't mean to be rude. He was probably caught up in getting the job done and may have lost focus of the surroundings. But you could have controlled the situation by acknowledging the behavior if it bothered you that much. You didn't do that so be mad at yourself. Not the band guy. Not Ragland Road. I don't mean that in a rude way. Stand up for yourself and stand up for what you believe if it means that much to you. But please remember this advice, especially at Disney - Choose your battles wisely and don't let people steal your magic!

What ruined my evening at Raglan Road was the food itself! First off, don't order a ginger ale - whatever they call ginger ale is not the same as what you think it is. It was bitters, I swear it!
The food was small portions and expensive - the room was loud and crowded. Of course, I was 24 weeks PG, so I might not have enjoyed the mood that much.

Looks like a great place to sit and have a few drinks, listen to the band, and watch the dancers!

I quote the prophet Bob Marley "Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights"

And I believe it was Descartes, or perhaps the Beastie Boys who said, "you've gotta fight, for your right, to party".

If you had said something to the band member, then perhaps your evening would have been ruined. Otherwise thicken up your skin abit, because the world ain't getting any more polite.

Thanks for the food review though, can't wait to try the joint out.

Let me admit that I have a weeeee bit of the Irish in me. I am an American born and bred, but my grandparents (who died before I was born and therefore never met) were from the Emerald Isle. I am proud of my heritage as well as my nationality. Your remark about Irish being rude I think was uncalled for, but people say unthoughtful, unkind, and untrue things when they are angry. I will chalk your remark up to that.

I do feel sorry for you though, that you would allow something so trivial as the removal of an unused chair ruin your evening and keep you from enjoying the wonderful music the band would have been playing. Kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

DH and I were at Ragland Road earlier this month. Our experience was great. The food was wonderful and we loved the warmth of the staff. Jay came by our table a few times to chat. We found him very charming.

I hope you will re-think your reaction. As another poster said, you can only control your actions, not others. Maybe if you look at this from a different light you will see that in the whole scheme of things, the removal of an unused chair is really quite a small offence. Give Ragland Road another chance. We Irish grow on people!

"Some of my best friends are Irish....."! Actually, so am I. But I won't be offended by your commend because we all say stupid things sometimes. :)

I would bet dollars to donuts if you had said something to that band memeber he would have immediately apologized and asked you very kindly if he could use 'your' chair. They are VERY nice over at Raglan Road and I am certain he either didn't realize it was 'yours' or he had something on his mind (work?) and just didn't recognize it might be an issue for you.

Ducky4Disney, will you give Raglan Road a try once your Little Bundle is here? The food really is fabulous, but I had the same problem while I was PG....things tasted funny, especially at the beginning and the end of the pregnancy. Try the Bread Pudding. It'll make 'yummy sounds' come out of your mouth and your eyes will roll back in your head in delight. :cloud9:

Sorry, but I think you totally over reacted. You missed out. The band is great and so is the dancer. It sounds like you had a prime spot for the performance. Too bad.

Seriously, everyone, I'm sure she's leaving out half the story. I'm positive she meant to say, "Took my chair, spit in my food, stole my wallet, and insulted me with a 'Yo mama so fat' joke."

No? :confused3

While it certainly would have been nice of the band member to ask about the chair, it wasn't his fault you didn't enjoy the rest of the evening. That was your choice. You can't control the actions of others so for such a slight breech of manners, I would have let it go and enjoyed the music.

Hope you'll return and next time remember to sit further from the stage!

Best wishes

If this is the worst thing that ever happens to you, then, my dear, you've got it made. So sorry that you let this ruin your evening.

Well, alrighty then. I can't imagine something that trivial "ruining" my evening. But to each her own...

Holy crap this thread is funny. What the OP should have done was to get up and then hit the guy with the chair she had been sitting on. That would have showed him. :rotfl:

Ahh, I'm so glad you cleared that up! :rotfl2:

:rotfl:

This whole thread has me rolling... :teeth:

I'm waiting for the "gotcha!"

I'm sorry but after reading your story of how taking a chair without asking ruined your evening, it sounds too dramatic for me. And to say that you didn't know Irish people were rude, well that is plain silly. This WORLD is full of rude people and it doesn't matter where they come from.

If you said he took the chair of one of your table guests say while they were away for a moment I would have been po'ed.

However, to each his own and we all have to realize that each human being has a boiling point and if taking a chair without asking is yours then so be it......it is not for me to judge or put down.

I don't appreciate rude behavior either, trust me. But remember, this world is filled with impolite folks, period. Don't let them get to you.

Read her trip report, sounds like they had a great time and she has some excellent pictures posted. She does mention that she had been sick and her hubby started getting a cold while they were there - so maybe that's why the reaction to the chair incident. Cold medicine will do strange things to you sometimes....... :rotfl:
