We are looking at putting together a very nice raffle basket as one of our fund raisers.

With some connections we have, we would be able to get 4 tickets to a NFL game. We would also add to the tickets, a gift gard for gas and a gift card for a meal at a restraunt in the area where the game would be played. Value total on the basket would be around $600.00.

We are trying to figure out the pricing of tickets. Poll options are the three most suggested. If you have done this type of raffle before or have purchased a ticket for this type, are the suggestions way off base.

I might be wrong but when we do a raffle we don't price tickets buy how much the raffled item cost.

I myself would do a thing where the more you buy the cheaper the are.

I'd sell the tickets cheaper, and try to sell a lot of them.

Those are all too high for me. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for a ticket.

A school near us does a raffle for a trip to the Masters, all inclusive, every year. It is worth close to $10,000. They sell a limited number of tickets (100 I think) for $100 each.

When I was reading your description of what the basket would contain I was thinking that $5/ticket would be reasonable but if that was the ONLY prize, I don't know that I would buy a ticket.

I wouldn't pay more than $5. Actually I'd probably prefer to pay $1 and buy $5 worth of tickets. I would never ever in a million years pay $50 for a lottery ticket!

I was thinking along the $10.00 a ticket, no limit on the number sold. That would open it up to a larger number of people who would or could buy. I just felt by setting it at a price over $20.00, that we would be losing a number of ticket buyers. At the $10.00 price, I know of several kids who would jump at the chance to win this raffle and more than likely some of these kids, would buy 2 or 3 tickets. But if we jacked the price up to high, they would either not buy or just get one.

I will be keeping this for reference at our next board meeting. I will use it to show which is the better option for us to go with.

I agree with PP, You are asking way to much. I would ask maybe 5.00 tops

One of the option is 50.00a ticket and you can buy 100 tickets why would anyone want to do that when the prize is only worth 600.00 total. They could almost buy the same thing themseleves

:scared1: Those ticket prices are steep for what is being offered.

The most I would pay for a ticket is $5. I would not put a limit on the amount of tickets sold.

The only way I would pay $50 or $100 per ticket is for a car raffle and the car would have to be something like a Mercedes or BMW.

I'm a very risk-adverse person, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt, but there is no way I'd pay 20 to 50 bucks for that raffle. I think 5 bucks a piece is fair wtih no limit on the number of tickets sold. Maybe you could do $5 for one ticket, and 3 tickets for $10?

I have bought a few raffle tickets in my day (usually the kind that are tied to the daily lottery number for a whole month) and they usually cost 5 to 10 dollars.

You are talking to the voice of reason here. I and 3 others, flat out told the rest of them they were setting this up for failure with the high cost and ticket limits. I told them, that at $50.00 a pop, I WOULDN'T buy a ticket and I am one of the ones running the raffle.

Nothing is set in stone yet. We won't actually do the raffle until next fall, but we have been trying to set up our fund raising options now.

I just want to be able to show the rest of the board, what others from around the country think. We have some board members that have a very elevated option of themselves.

I would do 1 ticket for $5 and 3 for $10.

There is no way you will make any money pricing it higher than that. (We run raffles at work ALL.THE.TIME....I helped coordinate a few in the last couple of months...and trust me...people flip if you ask too much.).

One of ours was $2/ticket and 3 of them for $5. We made SO SO SO much money on that raffle.

Yes. The thing is people will to want to win. The money will be made by the number of sales and repeat customers.

Maybe $1 or 6 for $5. I would never pay more than a dollar for a raffle ticket and I know most people I know agree. Heck, they sometimes raffle new cars off here for $20 tickets and that's worth a whole lot more than a few game tickets and dinner.

I've been running raffles to benefit my husband's chorale group for at least 10 years. We do it during a dinner show so we have to keep in mind that people have already paid $25 for their ticket to get into the event.

Our prizes are nice, but nothing costs over $75 - $100. Most things we offer are around $20 or less. We might have 10 smaller prizes and one bigger thing that everyone wants. All of the prizes are donated by our members so everything we make is pure profit for the group. I usually collect a bunch of little things and put them together in themed baskets to make bigger prizes.

My ticket prices haven't changed in 10 years. It's $1 for one ticket, $5 for 6 tickets (the most popular seller), $10 for 12 tickets and $20 for 25 tickets. People can decide which prizes they most want to win since every prize has its own ticket container. You can stuff them all in one box or spread them out equally among all the prizes. The nice thing about this method is that you won't win a prize that you really don't like or want.

Even with the low ticket prices, people are still hesitant to part with their money when there's a huge chance that they won't win. I think $50 a tickets, even for NFL tickets, would be way too much for most people to consider spending, especially in the current economy.

With really nice/expensive prizes, you might be better off with a silent auction where people write down their bid and the highest bid when the auction closes wins. My son's school does a combination of silent auction/raffle for their major fund raiser. I tend to only buy raffle tickets, but some people prefer to bid on the auction items.

I hope this info. helps in planning your raffle!:)

I think it all depends on "how in demand" the football tickets are. Are the tickets difficult to come by or can you walk up to the ticket window any given Sunday and buy them?

There are alot of raffles around here that raffle Steeler tickets. But they are hard to come by. 15 year season ticket waiting list. And to buy them on any given Sunday, you either have to know someone who wants to get rid of theirs or buy from a scalper.

So a cheap raffle for Steeler tickets is usually around $10.00. I have seen people raffle off 4 club box seats and the tickets are $50.00. I didn't say I would buy a $50.00 ticket but I'm guessing alot do, since this place does the raffle every year.

I would not pay more than 1 dollar for a ticket....sorry.

I would probably flip you a 5 or 10 dollars. But I would not give you 5 or 10 for 1 ticket.

You need to use some psychology here. It all evens out anyway. You will make more money with it being cheaper I would think.

Now if these were Superbowl tickets or hard to get tickets for a winning hot team, now I would pony up some money.

The tickets are for the Colts. One of the board members would be donating a set of his companies season tickets to us. All I know about them, is they are in the lower section just behind the visitors bench, so you have a view of the Colts bench. He was going to give us tickets for later in the season, so it would be a Nov or Dec game.

I am not a Colts fan, so while I know they are a hot item, how hot they are are, not sure. The only thing I do know, is when my neice and her husband went to a game ealier this year, they were in the 600 (nosebled) section and they could not get them purchased directly from the Colts, they had to go thru a reseller and they paid $80.00 something each for those tickets. The tickets this guy has are WAY better seats.

I was going to say , but they are in Nov or Dec then remembered you guys have dome so scratch that.

$80.00 from a reseller is pretty cheap. I would do some research before I priced the raffle tickets. You don't want to price them too low and not make anything. For the record I think $1.00 is too low. Even our school raffles are at least $5.00 a ticket , sometimes more.

Or price them too high and not get any takers. How much are raffles usually in your area? Thats a good determination too.
