I needed one night off-site near WDW and won this hotel on Priceline. I think this used to be the Renaissance near Animal Kingdom. Is that right? What are your opinions about this hotel? Thanks.:)

You're right, it did use to be that.

We stayed there one night on Priceline when it was Renaissance and we thought it was fine..

I stayed there when it was owned by Renaissance as well (Dec. 2002). We had an extended stay and I bid and won from Priceline as well. Hotel is okay and is showing some wear but is located in a great place but back to that later.

We had a few problems with our room (mirror doors off their tracks, few ants by window, battery on safe went dead after using it once), called front desk and all was taken care of within about 20 minutes. We checked in over the busy Thanksgiving weekend (Friday after Thanksgiving) and we were supposed to arrive earlier in the day but ran very late. In fact front desk informed me when I was checking in that I had the last room available at hotel and unfortunately they couldn't give me a smoke free room. We were tired and walked down the 1st floor smoking hall to our room which was at the end of the hallway. We could smell the smoke but opened our door and our room did not smell like smoke at all (just the outside hallway).

Room size is between Value and Moderates size on Disney property. All furniture is this whitewash Key West type of furniture. I think we had 2 full beds but it could've been queens (can't recall), closet with 2 fullsize moving mirrors (iron and ironing board stored in there. The desk and two chairs had the coffee maker on it with coffee and tea there. There was a built in armoire unit in the corner of the room next to the window. When you opened the doors, there was a 25" tv at the top. There was another door at the bottom which held a medium size refrigerator (we packed a lot of stuff in that frige). The hotel had built a storage type wall unit completely across the underside of the window to the back wall and most of our clothes were held in there and the closet. There is a lamp at the end of this unit and a seperate door which holds a nice size safe (big enough for laptop).

Bathroom is small but has an unusual oval type small tub (deep but small). Its one of those type of bathrooms where if you sit on the toilet you have just enough room to close the bathroom door and the mirror does fog up (no vent) but you can use the closet door mirrors to dress ( I always bring an extension cord and would dry my hair using those mirrors as bathroom had to defog). Renaissance provided many Bath and Body works products while we were there.

We rented movies (about $10 each) using the TV system, swam and sat in hot tub, had drinks at the bar and bought a few small items from convenience type store. You can order room service (menu in room) but prices were pretty high. We also washed clothes there twice during 10 day stay and prices were usual (either $1.50 or $2.00 per load per machine).

This hotel is located next to Sherbeth Road which leads you directly to Animal Kingdom (one mile down the road) and it is very easy to find your way around Disney property at that point. You can also see the fireworks shows if your room is facing Disney and your on one of the higher floors.

The hotel isn't the safest. You do feel safe and have indoor corridors but for instance we were on the first floor, last room. We were right next to the fire exit. Someone left something jammed in the door all the time so that you could park in the lot and then walk in through this door instead of front door without having to access using your room key. We loved the fact that we just walked out that door in the morning but didn't feel great about it being open at night. Staying on 2nd floor and above would solve this problem as those doors were locked, just 1st floor door propped open. All the locks on our door did work well. Staff was very friendly and provided me with all the directions I needed as I visited US and ate offsite several times.

Would I stay here again,Yes, especially since I won the bid off of priceline for 9 nights and with various charges my stay was still less than $500 (paid around $40 per night) and really stayed there due to needing to save a bit of money by not staying on Disney property. Even though the hotel was packed when we arrived (parking lot was very full as well) we didn't have any noise problems and slept as well as I could being in a strange bed). Have a great stay.

I have stayed here twice. Once via Priceline when it was the Doubletree World Gate and once, via Hotwire when it was the renaissance Worldgate. Both stayes were fine though the public areas where not as well kept up on the last stay. The room was still fine, comfortable and quiet. The location of the resort is really good.

Thanks guys. I think we can stand it for one night. ;)

:bounce: They change hotel names so often my head spins. What is approx. address or area this Hotel is at. Thanks
