i was wondering if anyone has stayed at the radisson by the port and what they thought of it. for $119.90 is a great deal for a room the nite before the cruise and parking for our car. and we get a free ride to and from the port. i was wondering how close the local resturants are and where the local walmart is for last minute shoping. thanks for all the information you give  ::yes:: :wave2: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I have recently book my second stay with this hotel. The rooms are clean and beautiful and convenient. Lots of local food within walking distance and short car rides. Restaurant also on property. Everything you could possibly need to shop for is within 1 or 2 miles. It is a great close hotel....great pool, a little disorganized at check in but well worth the money. I have a large family and we found the 2 room 2 king suite deal online was a great value

Hi. i haven't stayed there yet, but was able to book at $85/night plus taxes online (the radisson web site). I did have to prepay.

Also, I believe, from reading other threads, you'll still be able to park your car if you get that rate - the parking and shuttle is for all guests.

Good luck!

Hi KYCruiseCrazy!

We have stayed at the Radisson 2 times, but it was because we had a rental car from the airport & Avis was located there. Now that it's gone, it wasn't that convenient last time around. The hotel has a great pool area, so if you are planning on lounging all day the day before, that's a good plan. Use AAA or promo codes & you may get a better rate- check the Radisson site. We got a 2 bedroom king suite for around $109. There are plenty of restaurants in the area & with a car, everything is within a 5 minute drive. Most Cocoa Beach hotels offer free weekly cruise parking. Some don't have shuttles like the Radisson though.

On our Nov. cruise, we decided to use our Hilton points & stay at the Hampton Inn, which was closer to Avis in the morning. We were very pleased- smaller pool area, but rooms were immaculate, staff was very friendly, a bit quieter than Radisson- as a lot of cruisers from other lines stay at the Radisson too, so the Radisson gets very busy. We were close to restaurants, Ron Jon's, shopping etc.... They offer a nice free breakfast in the morning too. Their rates are $89 to $109 for oceanview, as you are closer to the beach. I think the Hampton offers free cruise parking, but call them about a shuttle.

The Radisson seemed a bit worn ( the rooms) last time we stayed (4/2002) & so, so busy. The staff seemed overwhelmed by the amount of cruisers checking in/out. The pool area is outstanding & their shuttle is a bit unorganized. At the time, you had the option of using the Avis one too, so we hopped on that one, as so many people were fighting to get on the Radisson one.

Maybe a recent cruiser could comment on the current condition of rooms/shuttle for you to give you a better idea of what it is like now.

The room we stayed in was not clean at all, but then again, the hotel was booked to capacity and I believe the room that we stayed in was "older" than others were. I was a bit dissapointed because we booked the room months and months in advance but they seem to go on a "first come first serve" basis. The pool area was very nice, the shuttle was very convenient, but I only checked in at 10:30 pm the night b4 our cruise and they told me that they could only fit me on the 2:30 pm shuttle! When I explained that the whole reason for me staying the night b4 the cruise was to get on board early, they did let me take the 10:30 am shuttle. Hope this helps you...have a great trip!

We stayed at Raddisson on 12/20/03 before our cruise. Very nice hotel. The room is new and clean. Friendly front desk and shuttle people. We left our rental car there during our cruise with no problem. Will definitely stay there again.

We got the $79 rate with "ORLANDO" code.

I'll have to let you know how we make out after out stay this time around at the Radisson. In 1/03 our suite was great, very clean. However, in 6/03 our suite was disgusting. Not only was it very worn and old looking, but it was very dirty. The bathroom had hair all over the floor and a dead cockroach lying belly up. (My husband flushed it before I could see it because he knew I would demand to leave!) My feet turned black from walking around barefoot in the room and the sheets didn't smell clean shall we say. Radisson did send me a free coupon for a room and are letting me pay the $30 difference, so we're trying it again on Friday.
I will say that I'm very, very picky when it comes to hotels. We stay at the Grand Floridian and The Yacht Club while at Disney and usually at an Intercontinental or Ritz Carlton when we travel so it's not my idea of a luxury resort. I do expect CLEAN though so that was my biggest problem with the place. As long as something is clean, I have no problems with it for a night.

thanks for all the great information. i hope to hear from more people. and thanks again

We stayed at the Radisson on 12-17-03. We had a one bedroom suite with king bed and jacuzzi. We just loved it. Very clean and lots of room. Our DD who is 7 had a blast taking her bath that night. My hubby is trying to work one into the budget at home. :) The shuttle was on time and very efficient. It was too cold to enjoy the pool but it looked very nice. We did walk next door to the go carts and had fun racing each other on the track. There is also a restaurant right next door that I have heard good things about. We didn't eat there, instead we drove to Grills.
Hope this helps.

cool go carts hehehe the family will have to race me lol i love all the help i get from these boards. thanks everyone

I have a room booked at Radisson on 1/13/04/. I got the 2 king bed suite for $119.00. I called and added the ALOHA special (2 free shirts)

The "free" shirts added $20 to the price of the room. I figured that $10 a shirt was worth it.

I also called and reserved space on the 10:30 AM shuttle to the port.

We stayed at the Radisson in January 2003. It was okay, just a couple problems. First, we checked-in late (it was around 10:30PM), and there weren't any 2 king suites left. We had to take a 1 king suite instead - the hotel was sold out. Made sleeping arrangements a little less than comfortable. Secondly, the suite was very worn. It really needed refurbished.

I'm not sure if we'd stay there again or not. Maybe next time we'll stick to the Hyatt Regency at the airport.

You don't have to book the "cruise package" to leave your car and ride the shuttle. You can get a room there on line for about $80. You should call ahead and arrange a shuttle time.

Another "trick" is to drive over to the port with your luggage, etc. Give your luggage to the porter, unload, and have Dad (or whoever) drive back to the Radisson. Then only he needs to take the shuttle back to the port. Meanwhile, mom can be in line to check in. It's easy for one person with no luggage to get on the shuttle. It's a lot harder for a family with luggage. Just be sure that your driver remembers to keep his cruise documents with him or he can't get back into the port area!!! When he gets back, he needs to join mom in line as all adults must check in.

BUMP keep up the great information. the more i get the more i learn and thanks

Dave;s site has everything you ever wanted to know about Brevard County and how to get here and how to get out - can someone post Dave's site since I don't know how to do it - also the general manager Joe Pancika, at the Radisson, a super person that not only goes to the inth degree to make things right, but also gives his cell phone number out to the customers just in case anyone is having problems - I will get Joe's email address and post it but first I need to check with Joe and also make him aware of the problems listed here -
Walmart is about 4 miles from Cape Canaveral in Merritt Island - you also have Publix, Winn Dixie etc here on the Beach side -
Anyhow if anyone has any questions or Norm or I can help, just write us a note.
Much great wishes for a Happy New Year
Always
Shirley

Starwood;

The coupon listed on the site you mention is only good for walk in's. Do you know of any other deals for the radisson but where you can reserve ahead?
