I neglected to mention my experiences with the Radisson at the Port....... we stayed 2 days before and 2 days after the cruise.

I loved it, and even though a bit pricey, you can beat the quality and the service at this place. I am a bit of a neat nick, and need to be surrounded by a outstandingly clean place. This place is for you if you are like me. All the landscaping is perfect, not a piece of trash in site.

I had 4 in my party, so instead of cramming everyone into a small room with 2 beds, I opted for a king size suitewith jacuzzi, that has 2 rooms with a nice french door for privacy with curtains. We had 2 families in our party, and it worked extremely well, one family took the living room, that had a pull out couch. They have kitchens with a micro and a fridge, and plates, cups and silverware. The rooms are spacious, double the size of any motel room by far. High ceilings, and walk in closets, and jacuzzis, you cant beat it.

I paid an internet savers price of $112 per night, which breaks down to $61 plus tax per family, dont forget the central air, not the single wall units, which cuts down on the noise.

The resort is huge, the pools are crystal clear. Family of parrots live in the largest palm tree by the pool. Dont miss the barbeque by the poolside on the weekends, food was outstanding. Arcade, laundry, restaurants, gift shops, you dont have to leave this place for anything!

I forgot to mention, a kids paradise is right next door, TRAXX, go karts, golf, arcades, just a short walk from hotel. Across the street is McDonalds, and 3 blocks away is Wendys.

They also give you a complimentary sit down or buffet breakfast,
which was a surprise to me, this breakfast was better then the cruiselines by far!

Hope this helps, I wouldnt stay anywhere else now.

We have stayed at the Radisson several times and were never offered breakfast...we also stayed in the jacuzzi suites....I think breakfast is included only in some of the rates, not all.

Sounds like things have changed!!!

While it was a nice place to stay, I certainly wouldn't have the rave reviews you did. It is (and therefore still must be) quite dated. It was the "coat-of-paint-on-something-old" solution. It just didn't work for me.

And like mmouse37 we were never offered breakfast and neither was anyone else.

Again, sounds like things have changed. Perhaps Ron Jon's is giving them some competition and they've cleaned up their act.

endowoman~ how did you get such a good rate for that room? All I have seen on the internet is $159 for a room like you were saying.

Thanks,

Prices have gone up. I had the same type room last year at the Radisson and paid $109.00 for it. After we returned from our cruise, we rebooked the Radisson (Sept. '03) for this coming August '04, using the same Visit Fl rate, and we are paying $129.00 for our room.

Okay, just booked my night before with the Radisson at $159.00 for a suite. They said that the rooms were going fast. Do you think that was just a line or that is true?? I can't believe you have to book so far in advance!!

Thanks.........Hope

I did the same thing Verandah Man did; booked our Radisson suite for this August, last September, and got a rate of $129. for the 2-king suite. When I spoke to the woman at the Radisson she DID say that the suites were the first to go since there weren't as many suites as there are regular rooms, and since we definitely wanted a suite, we booked it early.

Perhaps that is why it was less. The 2 days after the cruise which landed on a Thursday and Friday, where $112 plus tax, and I used the internet savers rate, which is a button you have to choose at the bottom of the list in the box listed. I think I booked sometime at the end of 2003, can remember what month it was. I have watched the prices daily, and they do fluctuate..... sneaky devils.

The box listed offers different rates, and I choose the internet savers rate, and for Thursday and Friday, it was $112.

I have to agree with BuzzBoyMom. While I liked the Radisson & would certainly stay there again, I didn't find the rooms that clean at all. The couches were dirty, peeling walls, etc. We also had a suite. However, I did like the way the rooms were set up & the beds were comfortable & the decor (although in need of a good cleaning) was very appealing.

The outside of the hotel - especially the pool & pool area - were absolutely beautiful & well-kempt. We also like the proximity to everything - especially the port.

We paid $109.00 last October.

I am just expressing my opinion, dont forget, this place is huge, and perhaps I got a good room..... lucky I guess. I have seen some dumps in my life, and this was not one of them. If your room is not to your liking, always complain, I will not settle for less then great conditions while at a hotel.

I have to agree with you. We've stayed there 3 times and have watched the hotel go way down hill in cleanliness. Our suite in June 03 was disgusting. It was filthy, including a dead cockroach in the bathroom along with "hair" on the floor. My feet turned black from walking barefoot in the room! We tried again in 1/04 and while our room was redone so we didn't have the peeling paint, etc., the room still was clean.

Just Booked a Suite for the night Before our July 3 cruise for
$ 159.00 I Was also told i could leave my car there while on the cruise and get a free shuttle to the ship and back and not pay the $ 7.oo a day Parking fee. Is this true ?

Thanks
George

Yes, you can leave your car there. We did that while on our October Cruise. It worked fine. Actually, what we did was our dh's drove us to the port, dropped us and the baggage off at the curbside with all the luggage. They went back to the Raddison and parked the car hopped on the shuttle back to the port!
It worked out great!!!
