I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you got a thyroid disorder?

Not sure how much help I'm being, but when on my endocrinology placement, I saw it undertaken as both outpatient and inpatient.

I suppose it depends what you're having it for.

Hope eveything is OK.

My wife had this treatment for an overactive thyroid gland. As an out patient she simply swallowed a tablet. For two weeks she was advised to limit close contact with people and drink plenty of fluids to flush the iodine out. There were no unpleasant side effects. However, this treatment caused her thyroid to go underactive and she now has to take thyroxine daily for life to maintain a normal level. This is a tablet a day and her health is not affected in any other way.

Over-active thyroid

Been over-active now for 4 years and treatment been having unable to control it was given 2 options first was.

To have the thyroid cut out this meant having to undergo surgery and have a cut round the collar bone to get it out, and as chances are it might not all be removed so might have to be done again (this one is mainly if glands enlarged or got nodes attached)

Second was the Iodine drink which mean taking a tablet or drink, again might not work so might have to have again

You can guess which one i went for

I would have opted for the same! I've been under-active for 27 years - thyroids are a pain in the neck.;):rotfl2:
